Xisco at Wednesday, Hughes at Bradford and today Neil Harris at Gills... The Harris sacking looks a bit harsh. They've had a pretty decent start and are only 2pts off second place, 4pts off top. Had a blip last few games, but still?

He was in the betting, wasn't he., to come here after Cook.. Thought hed started getting a tune out of Gills.. Suspect therell be a few more managerial casualties over the International break.... Blackburn? Stoke? possibly.

Wednesday's going to be interesting, who's going to want to go there given the recent statements by their clown?

My Gills supporting mate says its one of those ones that you wouldn't get unless you watched their awful football every week, & that they had been very lucky up to this point in the season

Saw a stat on Twitter that was something like they’ve scored just 52 goals in 75 games.

I remember McKenna's second game away at Gillingham very fondly. We tore them apart and I remember being astounded at how he'd got us playing that way within a couple of weeks of being in charge. I suspected then we might be on to something good but he's surpassed even those optimistic early expectations.

Very true. .. But I also remember the difference in that Gills team, not long after at PR, after Harris took the reigns. They looked a different side, and we got away with one that day...
But that awayday 4-0 at Gills was "the moment", for me. Just knew something good was happening. I even likened that performance to watching a Sir Bobby side, at the time. Which felt and sounded well over the top back then.. But it honestly felt like that to me.. I lumped on us going up, lol. Bookies won that one.

It's going to be some old crap manager like Chris Coleman or Simon Grayson. Hughes name did cross my mind too before I heard he was sacked

I'm not concerned about anyone but a top 6 prem job and they are unlikely to come until he has a prem promotion on his cv.

I think people understimate how much of a project this is for him and how well he is settled in the area and has everything he wants here including a high ceiling.

If we don't go up then we'll have a massive battle to keep hold of him between May 2024 and August 2024.

The money will have a talk.

He will need to do well at a Fulham/West Ham type club before any of the big Prem sides take him. If we go up and do reasonably well, then maybe. I think he will be here at least until this time next year. He may see the club as his baby and only leave when something to go to turn down comes along. I would love to see him here for the next 5 years, but can't see it.

I'm inclined to agree with you. Too much hysteria on here, when certain manager positions become available. No one can predict how long he will be at the club, but if he's given the right environment in which to work, the people around him that he feels he can trust, the tools to do the job, why would he leave for a club like Everton or Palace.

Another factor is schooling and how well his family have settled. I have experience of continuously moving and it's very unsettling when you have young children.

When he joined Ipswich, he stated that he felt it was the right job for him, and he would not have joined just any club, he had to be sold on the project. He comes across as a very measured, smart guy. His next move will only take place if he feels he can better what he currently has, with the right infrastructure that allows him to win more plaudits.

I don't think we have too much to worry about for some time yet, at least I hope!

They've been linked to Lee Bullen, Steve Evans and yet another ex Watford manager Oscar Garcia.

My wife informs me that over on Owlstalk some people seem to think that Ryan Lowe is their top target and would "jump at the chance" to manage them. Which is a level of deludement not seen since a podgy 14 year old YorkshireBlue went up to the most popular girl in sixth form at a school disco and asked for a dance.
