Could be a lively QT tomorrow… on 19:01 - May 29 with 4263 views | Plums | There are two people on there whose TV appearance days should be far behind them. I really value the BBC as part of the fabric of British society but they're really becoming increasingly tabloid in outlook and content.

I guess a Green or LD representative may skew the program away from its entertainment purpose.
Could be a lively QT tomorrow… on 19:14 - May 29 with 4099 views | Herbivore | Why is Farage on there? He's not standing in the GE and is not a party leader either. Ridiculous that the BBC are still platforming that oxygen thief, shame on them.

I’m not usually a BBC knocker but I’m getting increasingly disappointed with them over time. Quite frankly having Farage on there during an election campaign when he has more interest in the American one is a disgrace. BBC is making more and more shocking decisions

He’s box office for them. They’ll probably have a Tory or Reform activist plant in the audience like they normally do and have a jolly good chuckle about how ghastly foreigners and non-white people are. It’s garbage and has been for a long time unfortunately.

Could be a lively QT tomorrow… on 20:04 - May 29 with 3809 views | Nthsuffolkblue | A right wing politician, an opposition politician, a right-wing ex-politician, someone with no declared polical allegiance as far as I can see, and a right-wing TV personality. This lefty-biased BBC is really failing with that balance. How dare they allow Labour to be represented!

And you'd be generous saying the Labour one is even from centre. More like a centre-right, one nation Tory, certainly in terms of his neoliberal economic views. Although socially more to the left. What a time, eh? I see the Greens were getting a bashing earlier in the thread. They have had some issues, but I'd swap one Caroline Lucas for a dozen MPs from either of the main two parties at the moment. Uppa Greens. Lib Dems are the big disappointment for me. They've quite a history, but seem incapable of exerting any sort of influence.

QT has been right leaning for a while now hasn't it? There was that hoo-ha around that producer a few years back who was following and retweeting fascist propaganda. And they still seem to be facing questions about their impartiality - https://www.thenational.scot/news/24202166.bbc-bosses-quizzed-massively-unbalanc You'd think it's the opposite when you look at the right wing media though, who always bang on about its left wing bias despite the data showing the opposite 🤷♂️

Not really surprising when this guy is a BBC Board member, member of the editorial and standards committee and has apparently tasked himself with sorting out impartiality at the BBC https://www.thenational.scot/news/20756770.robbie-gibb-tory-agent-emily-maitlis-

The platform they give to F*rage is an embarrassment. I have no view when it comes to whether the BBC is lefty or pro-establishment etc but this just seems so difficult to justify.

I am curious. When did they last have 3 or 4 left-leaning panelists and one other who could be described as centre/neutral or possibly right?

Why do they need a reform represetative rather than say a Green or a Lib Dem?

A very good point. When it comes to party broadcasts, don't all the major parties get the same air time? That is rather defeated when populist programmes set up as serious political debates have such bias to them. When was the last time Question Time had a significantly left-of-centre panel?

I suppose they'd argue it's because Reform are ahead of either of those in the polls, as shameful as that is.

only ahead within a margin of error though and behind on every meaningful. Also historically Farage gets hismug on QT ahead of players in other smaller parties regardless of polling.

I completely agree. I was just speculating how they would probably justify it. As you say, the Greens especially have been very underrepresented on QT for years compared to the likes of Farage.

Reform are currently polling ahead of the Greens and the LDs so having someone from them isn't particularly controversial, except when it is someone who isn't standing or apparently even interested in UK politics
