Hladky 09:06 - Jun 4 with 13852 views | BiGDonnie | I think he'll be off. We'll be looking for a new number one and he wont' want to be on the bench - unless it's at a big club earning more than we'd pay. Does that mean Walton will be no2 again? Will he agree/want that, or will we sign two new keepers? In an ideal world we sell Walton and keep Hladky to compete with a new signing who's good with his feet. What do we think?

Hladky on 09:11 - Jun 4 with 6875 views | WeirdFishes | I really hope we keep Hladky as #1, he’s so essential to how we play out from the back as aside from Ederson I genuinely can’t think of a keeper who comes close to him in that respect.

Hladky on 09:16 - Jun 4 with 6830 views | Guthrum | Is there any reason why Hladky can't make the step up? Very decent shot-stopper, good with his feet and his brain. Might have been caught out a couple of times, but doesn't happen often and even then his reactions have saved things on occasion.

This is my thinking too. Can see him at a big club as a no2 earning £40k+ a week.

As good as he was last season I think we'll be looking to improve. Like the look of Rushworth from Brighton.

Hladky on 09:24 - Jun 4 with 6674 views | N2_Blue | I think Hladky will definitely stay. If he wasn't going to sign a new contract it would have been confirmed by now. Its taking a long time but there are probably some finer details to reolve. He's just had the season of his life, clearly loves it here and i think Suffolk suits his persona. I'd be very surprised if he moves on, i'm sure he is just trying to ensure this contract is right for all parties as it will be his last 'big' contract as a professional footballer. Even if he was guaranteed number 1 i think he's stay. Football is a funny game and he's just had the season of his life off the back of not bing the number one. So he's knows what can happen beeter than anyone.

The tricky thing with trying to improve a goalie is you have to get the balance exactly right. Was having a conversation at the weekend with a ManU supporting mate about the change from de Gea (shot-stopper) to Onana (footballing 'keeper). He reckons they've gone too far across the spectrum and sacrificed the ability to prevent the concession of goals at the altar of possession. For me, Hladky is pretty much in the sweet spot, capable of great saves and intelligent distribution. We tamper with that at our peril.

Sorry but Hladky while great with his feet is a bang average shot stopper - you only have to look at the goals he conceded in the last month of the season .... Coventrys goal went straight through him, Hulls late equiliser was down to him parrying a weak header back into the danger zone, The Norwich free kick from 35 yards should NEVER beat him either ......
Hladky on 09:38 - Jun 4 with 6506 views | rickw | I'm sure he'll stay, he stayed as a backup for 2 years in L1, he's now going to the PL as a first choice - surely it's a no brainer for him!!

Hladky on 09:42 - Jun 4 with 6447 views | bluesbrothers | I've seen nothing of him, but given his City pedigree and fact he plays for Scotland U21, I'd assume Slicker isn't far off being an OK no2? Clearly that's a bit of a risk, and clearly he'd prob be better off on loan, but something's telling me he's got a decent future for us.

Think I can remember him making a quite a few saves which has had a big contribution to this promotion.

He can't be too bad when only six teams in the division conceded fewer than us last season. Plus he pulled off a number of remarkable saves, too.

Agreed - i don't think anyone can dispute that but i don't think anyone can dispute that he's let some pretty bad ones in as well...... i've named 3 in a month !
Hladky on 09:48 - Jun 4 with 6334 views | Churchman | My personal take is that I’m not a great fan of Lladky. Yes he had a great season. He’s good with his feet and a good shot stopper but for me he’s not a great goalkeeper. He doesn’t command his area and is prone to errors. His ability to set moves going was already being compromised in the Championship as teams got wise to it and he won’t be playing out as much in the PL, that’s for sure. Goalkeeper for Goalkeeper, I think Walton is the better even if he has less to offer on the ground. If Lladky wants to go, fine. GK is one of the most important positions on the pitch. If that means we spend on better than Walton and keep him as back up, fine. Is Walton good enough as first choice PL GK? I don’t know. Just a view. [Post edited 4 Jun 2024 9:50]

Don't get me wrong here - i don't hate Hladky i'm just giving my opinion he's great with his feet which is a big part of how we play but his shot stopping is certainly not 'great' as was previously stated. You have to remember we are going up to high quality league where he will be facing a lot more shots than he did last season and if he's conceding free kicks like the one he did at Norwich (where ironically his footwork was non existent) the Hull goal where he parries a weak header back into the danger zone or the one at Coventry where the shot goes straight through him then we are going to be in trouble i'd happily keep Hladky but only as a No.2 if i had a choice i'd be investing in a top quality keeper like Kelleher from Liverpool who apparantly wants to leave to be a No.1
Hladky on 09:54 - Jun 4 with 6231 views | Steve_M | Yes I think he might move on now. He's not good enough a keeper for the Premier League, he's conceded a few too many goals that he really shouldn't have done this season. That's obviously been compensated for by his use of the ball but it feels like if he does move on then it'll work out fine all round.

Hladky on 09:55 - Jun 4 with 6208 views | BlueBoots | Can sort the goalkeeping department out at the cost of £0 in transfer fees... Hladky (New contract) Mathew Ryan (Free Transfer) Walton (Option taken, season on loan somewhere) Slicker (Season on loan somewhere) Bart (Free Transfer - replacement for Hayes as our 3rd senior keeper, and Aluko as our senior pro)

Agreed. I don’t blame him for delaying acceptance of his offer. He doesn’t want to sign and find himself back on the bench.

Weird take on Onana - literally made more saves than every other goalkeeper in the Premier League.

Hladky on 10:00 - Jun 4 with 6125 views | victorywilhappen | I think the Walton 1 year option taken out is to get some money when he moves on this summer. Vaz ,our new GK signing and Slicker will prove their pecking order in pre season. My guess that's all. Edit- Still a fan of Matt Ryan and he would suit our playing style [Post edited 4 Jun 2024 10:03]

Hladky on 10:02 - Jun 4 with 6089 views | CoachRob | It will interesting to see what happens with Robert Sanchez at Chelsea. He seems to have fallen out of favour there and has premier league experience, can play out from the back (he's Spanish after all) and is an incredible shot shopper. Concentration tends to wane at times, but Ashton said we would be ambitious.
Hladky on 10:03 - Jun 4 with 6060 views | OldFart71 | I think he will find it difficult getting another Premier League club and being No.1 If he was going to stay I think he would have signed by now. Maybe he's trying for a better contract than has been offered. But I am sure Ashton and co will have a tight hold on the purse strings and won't be paying anyone more than the structure of the clubs finances see fit.
