Been a nosey sod on one of the West Ham fan forums, where they have a thread discussing Ben Johnson and his contract situation. Mixed views on his ability as a player (about a 50/50 split on whether he's at the level to play for them regularly) Almost unanimous about wanting him to stay as a person though, because he's a down-to-earth, humble lad who's one of their own; sounds like the type of character who would be the perfect fit for our squad.
Couple of posters claim to know him personally, and that he's 100% on the move because he's not been treated particularly well by the owners / management. At the end of the season, I looked through the list of Prem players with contracts expiring - he was a player I dismissed as assumed he'd either get a new contract at WHU, or would be offered one by an established Prem club, so if we can get this over the line, would be absolutely delighted; looked to have bags of potential prior to last season when he didn't feature much for WHU. |  |

"Player X will join on the expiry of his contract at Wherever FC next week"
