That away end is infuriating. 21:17 - Aug 28 with 16197 views | Matt_Netherlands | As someone who lives fairly nearby and is just short of 15 points, seeing so many empty seats is so disappointing. Must be a good 100+ empty seats and it’s clear as day why. I hope the club can get a read out of who didn’t have their tickets scanned, and deduct the point accordingly. Unbelievably selfish from people.
That away end is infuriating. on 21:23 - Aug 28 with 7928 views | Mullet | People are though. These ticket threads always show that. If it’s £40 a pop for membership and they’ve sold thousands, there must be money to police it too given how much bad will / annoyance / division it causes.

It feels as if it needs to be more punitive than that, so as to send a proper message that it will not be tolerated. A deduction of multiple points, or a temporary drop into a lower priority bracket perhaps.

Should be an outright ban. You break the rules, back of the line you go next season. That sort of message?

If the T&Cs allow for that, I'd be fully in favour.

I don’t think the club will award points for a potential away FA cup fixture.

There are rules about selling tickets on but not about buying a ticket and not bothering to go.

That away end is infuriating. on 22:07 - Aug 28 with 7101 views | Vegtablue | Tis the system we have. Well over 100 by the looks of it. Was always going to be hard for these members to sell their tickets on down the pub or on social groups for Wimbledon. Shouldn't be an issue for the less exciting Prem games as there will be plenty of demand for all of them. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

How on earth would they justify doing that. Car broken down, stuck at work, kids unwell etc. I can see an argument for not giving the point for the particular fixture but more than that would seem a challenge. Another game where it’s a doddle to get in the home end obviously.

For that many people all sat together? You’d expect the odd seat for stuff like that. Pretty clear what’s happened tonight listening to people on here. It’s an insulting peoples intelligence to pretend otherwise. Besides in all those scenarios it’s pretty easy to demonstrate. All it needs a note against that ticket holder and if it happens again, that’s justify it easily. Point should be automatically taken if the ticket isn’t used and contact made.

Well yes obviously but the “point” I’m making is that you can’t remove multiple points when everybody will have an excuse (real or otherwise) if challenged. Removing the point for this specific fixture I wouldn’t disagree with.

You seem quite keen to defend what is quite clearly an abnormally large % of non-attendance.

Think going forward the club will probably have to do away with the points system for cup games. No points awarded and perhaps have a slightly different priority system. As you say would be hugely unfair on someone who missed a game for a genuine reason to be slapped with a big punishment but it's pretty obvious what's going on and the club surely can't be blind to it.

Or have a significant amount being picked up at the stadium with ID if they are that bothered.

I don't think needing ID at the ground to get in is going to particularly threatening to people with no intention of getting in is it?

Well it would if you then don’t get the point for not attending you clown. Which is exactly what the club does for a small number of tickets at EVERY game. I

There were tonight. We had to collect our tickets at the ground and, at 7.25pm, there were still stacks of envelopes waiting to be collected. I got there much earlier than the person who’d bought my ticket, saw they were checking IDs scrupulously and asked if I could just collect mine out of the envelope - they said definitely not.
That away end is infuriating. on 22:55 - Aug 28 with 6385 views | ParisBlue | Reminded me of a Tuesday night towards the end of MM tenure. I was in the block behind the goal (so the first block sold out) and there were free seats to either side of me, in front and behind. Still, I guess we don't have to worry about point scrambling until January at least...

Your need to resort to insults says more about you than anything else SensitiveOfTheEast. But even still, it would be potentially 'worth a gamble' for a point, and it would also reduce the chances of others catching you up. The club are a big corporate organisation now, they can come up with something better than this.

Fair enough 👍 So in summary they’re doing what I suggested which Chris suggested was a bad idea a few posts up despite being the one with the issue. [Post edited 28 Aug 2024 22:59]
