As someone who lives fairly nearby and is just short of 15 points, seeing so many empty seats is so disappointing.
Must be a good 100+ empty seats and it’s clear as day why.
I hope the club can get a read out of who didn’t have their tickets scanned, and deduct the point accordingly.

They clearly didn’t ask for ID as earlier in the thread there was a comment from someone using a ticket purchased by a mate. No way should he have been allowed in and the purchaser should have had all his, or her, points cancelled. Not just the one for the game. |
The 'collection' from the ground, even for league games where people are randomly selected to do it, is only for the purchaser.
So, if someone have purchased say 4 tickets on their account (linking to 3 other peoples accounts for tickets) only the person who made the order will have their ID checked for collection. It is not checked if the people assigned to the other 3 tickets are there / using.
This also means if you are genuinely one of the other 3 people with a ticket in that envelope only the person who made the purchase on the website can collect them at the ground. [Post edited 29 Aug 2024 10:18]

Genuine question (I have no skin in this as I can’t get to any games myself any more unfortunately), but why shouldn’t one of two friends going and wanting to sit together buy for their mate? How else are they supposed to get two seats together? |  |

I suppose even if they asked for ID it’s unlikely to solve the problem completely as most fans don’t usually need to collect tickets as they’re posted out in advance.
They can just pass the physical ticket on to a mate and no one is the wiser.
That said if you were due to pick up a ticket last night and didn’t turn up, you’ve pretty much alerted the ticket office staff to your tactic, so you can’t complain if they get in contact.
When I left afterwards, there were a fair number of fans moaning about it so I suspect the ticket office will get a few calls today. | | | |

Some missing will have genuine reasons and won't mind losing the points. Those that were trying to manipulate the system will have failed and it will have cost them. They then wouldn't do it again. I don't think more needs to be done, no. |
I think it’s Brentford where you have a strikes system. Presumably, if the club are proactive and do more to stop it now, it becomes less of a problem in the future.
There’s been an issue from the get go but I guess now it’s reaching a point where people are getting more wound up? That’s the impression isn’t it? Judging by here and across the fanbase. |  |

Although “not being able to give away” tickets in league one is of course, absolute rubbish. In 22/23 we sold out virtually every single away game. |

closer to 250-300 empty seats i would say, probably more.
Pretty disgusting really. A lot of people in the high points categories of 25/20 + taking the point, which they don't need as they have got to every away game and will continue doing so if they keep going to league games.
we were right behind the goal and had 3 empty seats to our right, 2 empty lefts to our left. Behind to the right 4 empty seats and in front to the front about 6 empty seats. Then on the sides it looked like a very sparse indeed. |

Totally agree, Good way for people who are genuine fans to build points up, +1 point for cup games, and no points bracket to purchase a ticket, and then if it’s not used whatever the reason, the point isn’t awarded. Anyone willing to travel around the country for a midweek cup Match, deserves the points to build up, and earn the chance to build points towards the bigger matches. |  | | |

AFCW will have planned the evenings logistics on the basis of 1800 away fans showing up, potentially paying larger policing and stewarding bills, ordering additional catering etc. All for a not insignificant number not to show up. I appreciate they have gotten the ticket money, but they've missed out on a number of potential refreshment, food and programme sales.
I fully expect we won't get 1800 tickets if/when we next play at Plough Lane. |  | | |

I was there last night and I’d say the fairest thing is probably to take away the point for everyone from that fixture. Those of us who turned up (hopefully) don’t do it for the point but to see the game, and will have enough points anyway hence getting a ticket. Those that didn’t have gained no advantage for trying to manipulate the system and have simply wasted £15.

I was at that game, for the last 2 seasons, my work circumstances have changed and I haven't been able to make many games. So I've missed out on the majority of our success.
Only way I can go these days is if one of my pals can't, not having a moan but I have no chance of going otherwise. Going on Saturday though on my brother's season ticket as he's away. |  | | |
