That away end is infuriating. 21:17 - Aug 28 with 16228 views | Matt_Netherlands | As someone who lives fairly nearby and is just short of 15 points, seeing so many empty seats is so disappointing. Must be a good 100+ empty seats and it’s clear as day why. I hope the club can get a read out of who didn’t have their tickets scanned, and deduct the point accordingly. Unbelievably selfish from people.

Whatever they decide is less of a headache to sort and will piss the fewest amount of people off I guess.

That away end is infuriating. on 22:54 - Aug 28 by Danny_G | There were tonight. We had to collect our tickets at the ground and, at 7.25pm, there were still stacks of envelopes waiting to be collected. I got there much earlier than the person who’d bought my ticket, saw they were checking IDs scrupulously and asked if I could just collect mine out of the envelope - they said definitely not. |
I think the reason there was a large number was because anyone that ordered after 12 last Friday, had to pick tickets up at ground due to short timing. Anything before 12 got posted. I don’t think they ID a lot tbf, the main bulk of that would have just been normal ticket collection.
That away end is infuriating. on 08:15 - Aug 29 with 2641 views | ozzy_itfc | closer to 250-300 empty seats i would say, probably more. Pretty disgusting really. A lot of people in the high points categories of 25/20 + taking the point, which they don't need as they have got to every away game and will continue doing so if they keep going to league games. we were right behind the goal and had 3 empty seats to our right, 2 empty lefts to our left. Behind to the right 4 empty seats and in front to the front about 6 empty seats. Then on the sides it looked like a very sparse indeed.

In that case perhaps the club should get back the ones which weren’t collected and deduct points! We ordered on Thursday and had to collect ours.

Yep, same for me - was probably near you , lots of space round there . Just think the club made a missteps by not making the resale available to those on less than 15+ - there was a few on here looking for a ticket this week who would’ve bought them direct from the club . The tickets this week should’ve gone down to 10+ or even just members generally especially when the priority list came out it mentioned 10+ from Saturday. Just let’s fans down and team down by not physically filling the allocation Enjoyed myself though , good support those that were there - just a shame about the result and the ridiculous queuing for a pint !
That away end is infuriating. on 09:01 - Aug 29 with 2456 views | Leaky | Strange this in league 1 I had the Ultimate .membership which committed me to buy every away ticket. If I couldn't nake a game I couldn't even give the ticket away. Certainly didn't get abuse for a no show
That away end is infuriating. on 09:06 - Aug 29 with 2430 views | tractorshark | We picked our tickets up at the ground and, as others have said, there were lots of envelopes there. But I suspect that was due to the postal deadline. It was frustrating to see so many empty seats and you know why. Yes there would be a couple with legitimate reasons but not that many. Two things here…firstly you’ve stitched up your fellow fans on less than 15 points which is pretty sh**ty. Secondly, because the club won’t be able to ascertain who had a legitimate reason and who didn’t, their response will probably be to remove the point from future cup games which stitches up those who do genuinely attend these games. Personally, I think if you’re on 25+ points and still feel the need to throw away £15 on a ticket you don’t use just to get a point you don’t need, then that speaks volumes about your insecurity and attitude towards other Ipswich fans. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Better to get back the ones not collected then make personal contact with the purchaser and issue a stearin warning. Happen again and your points are cancelled in full. The system is clearly being abused. Club needs to be more proactive . Suspect the guy on here who picked up a ticket ordered by a mate wasn’t the only one doing so.

Certified Super Fans like yourself are exempt from any abuse. Apologies for any upset caused. Although “not being able to give away” tickets in league one is of course, absolute rubbish. In 22/23 we sold out virtually every single away game.

That away end is infuriating. on 21:51 - Aug 28 by Matt_Netherlands | I don’t think the club will award points for a potential away FA cup fixture. |
Don’t think that’s a good idea. Away teams get a bigger allocation for FA Cup games so it could be one of very few chances for someone in the 10-14 points bracket to actually add to their total.

i think there is a third point as well. Leaving hundreds of empty seats on an away day that could have easily sold out if it had been sold to lower points tiers which surely must have an impact on atmosphere etc. would it have changed the result, probably not, but there certainly are games where it can make the difference.

On the ID thing.... I had a ticket with the home support, but someone on here kindly offered me their away seat after they had to change plans. All I had was the confirmation email, knowing full well I might get ID'd and refused, but with the home ticket as a backup. I wasn't asked for ID, but I was asked to confirm the address, which I had to admit I couldn't do. Thought I was rumbled. But the guy asked to see the email, checked it was a genuine email (as opposed to a screenshot, for example) and said go on then, here you go! Result.

I honestly doubt the club will do anything about it. It's difficult to prove there wasn't a genuine reason for not turning up. (Though of course it's obvious to most what was going on there)

Yep, hardly robust. But to be honest I don't blame the staff on the night, it's a bit rich for ITFC to put the responsibility for enforcing a fair and robust ticket system on the other club.

I think it was Ipswich ticket staff manning the ticket collection kiosk. We produced our confirmation email and my son who bought the tickets had to give the first line of our address. I would have had no problem with them asking him or me for ID.

I was fairly central behind the goal, right in the thick of it. There were 8 empty seats next to me. And I don't think I smell *that* bad....

They clearly didn’t ask for ID as earlier in the thread there was a comment from someone using a ticket purchased by a mate. No way should he have been allowed in and the purchaser should have had all his, or her, points cancelled. Not just the one for the game.

Some missing will have genuine reasons and won't mind losing the points. Those that were trying to manipulate the system will have failed and it will have cost them. They then wouldn't do it again. I don't think more needs to be done, no.

That away end is infuriating. on 10:14 - Aug 29 with 1840 views | textbackup | They should have just made last nights game a free for all, first come first served, not based on points. Those crying about tickets would have had a chance to go… but you can bet the next thing would have been ‘I want to go away, but not to Wimbledon’
