Assuming he's not an utter cretin, why would anyone in his position allow videos such as these to be made, the only real purpose of which would be to allow someone to destroy his career at a later date.
Given the nature of both videos, he clearly had to have known they were being filmed.
The only reason I can think of, and I've clearly watched too many crime dramas, is that someone wanted him under their control, with the threat that the videos would get released if he refused to play ball at any point. |  |

It feels as if it wouldn't be completely beyond the realms of possibility. It could be that he decided enough was enough, or he was foolish enough to think that he could get away with not returning whatever favour it was that got him onto the hook in the first place.
I imagine it must be very easy to get disillusioned with being a PL ref; paid decently (high-five to low-six figures) but nowhere near the level of the manbabies you're left in charge of. I can imagine it would be incredibly tempting for someone to offer to give an innocuous yellow card here or there in return for a taste of the high life.
If something like this did happen, and the official in question did decide to whistleblow to the FA/EPL, would they even do anything? Would they acknowledge that spot/march-fixing has happened, and risk ruining the perceived integrity of their precious cash cow? | |
