Trying to take this season as a free hit 21:37 - Dec 3 with 1881 viewsRozeeboy74

The investors had a 5 to 10 year plan. We got to the Prem in 2 seasons. This is a free swipe at the big boys. Should the worse happen, I just hope Leeds and 6 Fingers don't pass us going the other way.

I still believe we have enough in the locker but losing or dropping points to teams around us is painful.

Have to say we are down after that performance. Hopefully don't end up like Norwich and yo yo before that one season where it all goes wrong

Yo-yoing wouldn't be the end of the world, we have to trade this squad up

It's clearly still lacking enough PL quality at the moment, they're trying their hardest but are clearly lacking still at this stage

If we can't be like Brentford or Brighton, then aim to be like Fulham. They went straight back up with an absolutely ridiculous squad for the Championship.

We are in safe, good hands. The club is moving forward so I'll take the hit of relegation believing we can bounce back. What I don't want though, is for us to go down with a sub 20 points total.

McKenna leaving after relegation has to be the worst case scenario?

I know that was then, but it could be again..

If he leaves he leaves. We move on. We will have a host of managers wanting to take us on and we will have the funds to help them too.

I'd rather he moved on anyway. He would have taken the club as far as he could. The club has backed him with 100mill to spend so he has to take the bullet if we go down. Wouldn't be that fussed if we did a Leicester and replaced him before to be honest.

I’d be bothered.

He’s the best thing that’s happened to this club in over 20 years.

Please don’t forget that after losing to Palace.

Risky to see it as a free hit tbh when it could take 20 odd years to be in it again.

Good point, well made. In fact it's better than a free hit, it's a paid hit, but we were well off it tonight.

We need a bit of luck, but we also need to be aware that this league has different rules, and we have to start learning them and using them.

One poor performance? We've won one in 14. That's Paul Hurst form. Had he not been backed with 100 million I'd be less inclined to be harsh on him. The McKenna magic is beginning to wear off for me.

McK has a bit more in the bank than Hurst.

You’re either deliberately being edgy or missing the point entirely.

Talk of free hits is seen as defeatist as some, and I can see their point.

But no-one expected us to be here already.

It was always going to be a bigger achievement than the double promotion if we stayed up, and it’s looking more and more that that’s the case.

Are you stupid or just taking the piss?

I fear a huge whoosh coming on but I also fear we have fans who would post this stuff seriously.

He was backed with $100m. We’ve just lost 1-0 to two teams whose squads cost $300m each because they’ve had Prem money for at least three years.

It's more than one. Southampton, Everton, West Ham, Forest, Palace - at least five.
