It's a football chant which implies that the oppositions ambitions to win the European cup are somewhat humorous in nature.

Hope that helps.

Yes, there was a section near us that started singing ‘we’ve had a shot’, absolute sausages.

Rather than use pathetic chants mocking the team, actually get behind the lads ffs.

Our away support has been fcking atrocious this season and I say this as having been in the home fans of quite a few games. God knows what types are getting tickets in there, but I’ve only witnessed cringey kids singing self deprecating songs

Tell a lie, I’ve also witnessed Wimbledon and West Ham away where the stand was half empty by full time lol

So, was it a reference to Arsenal never having won the European Cup/Champions League? If so, a weird flex from town fans.

Or was it an attempt at mocking Arsenal for never having won a European trophy? That would be foolish as it is incorrect considering they won the 1994 Cup Winner’s Cup.

Either way, a dumb chant

Twtd forum posts yesterday morning

Let's just enjoy the occasion etc

Now you're bemoaning fans enjoying a day out.

It still surprises me that people think out of 3000 that go everyone of them is a diehard town fan who will literally be there just to support the side. They'll be many going especially young ones getting drunk. Having fun having a day out or weekend in London.

They probably did enjoy the game and the occasion just like those wanted yesterday.

Didn't say you had txt. Just that there were posts saying just enjoy the occasion. Where we've come from etc. The usual.

Many groups of young fans of all clubs go out. Get lashed sing songs. Its not unusual.

Look at the pompy lot that came down to pr singing got the ball. Lost the ball etc.

Yeah I know, and I felt for the pompy fans/players that would have heard that and cringed as I did hearing the ‘left side right side’ crap yesterday.

They also won in 1970 the Fairs Cup, the predecessor tournament to the UEFA Cup which we won in 1981.

More cringey than the Arsenal fans singing "We're the North Bank", "We're the Clock End"?

As the Left/Right chant was almost directly after that, I think it was very much a tongue in cheek and appropriate response.

Maybe you would like to produce a sheet with authorised songs to save you further embarassment? Or alternatively, let people enjoy their time at the match how they want to?

I quite enjoyed stating that Declan rice is a poor man’s Kalvin Phillips.

The Arsenal fans were very quiet, which does make it more challenging to create an atmosphere as it’s better if there’s more back and forth.

Although I agree with the original post that the champions of Europe didn’t really make sense. A few around me were saying the same at the time.

Sadly mate that’s what it was,the way we are going it might be one of their last ‘big day out’ for a while as well.

I’d like to say for the record Town will finish 17th.
