14,000 tickets sold for the FA Cup match..... on 12:32 - Dec 29 with 6798 views | Blueschev | It’ll be like the old days. I think there’ll be a few missing as they’d planned to give their old Arsenal or West Ham shirts an airing that day, check if they still fit for next season.

Your insinuation makes no sense. We filled the stadium consistently when we were in League 1 and The Championship. Do you honestly think fans will leave in their droves if we get relegated?

..."consistently" when we were in The Championship, we filled it last year. And we definitely didn't fill it when we were in league one. If we get relegated attendances will hold up for one year, maybe two, purely because people won't want to miss out on Prem tickets if we go back up. After that it will drop off, down to around 25k initially I expect.

Not sure we consistently filled the ground in League 1 - but the attendances were around 25-27k? The reality is that should we get relegated then tickets will be easier to get hold of no doubt.

14,000 tickets sold for the FA Cup match..... on 12:49 - Dec 29 with 6678 views | Vaughan8 | Unfortunately, the move to Sunday at 3pm has killed my chances of going as well as a few others who don't live locally. 3pm on Saturday I'd definitely be there. I want to go to PR at every opportunity but this is not really possible. Yes it's a good stick to beat people with, but this is the reality. [Post edited 29 Dec 2024 12:50]

No we were getting 30k in League One. Mark Ashton said so and he’d never exaggerate or bend the truth.

....the reality is that the last 3 home games on a Sunday have all sold out. Plenty of tickets left for this one, which is great for people that have complained about not getting tickets. Reality.

Attached is average attendances over the years https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ipswich-town/besucherzahlenentwicklung/verein/67 MA likes a bit of hype. Still, attendances did grow post Gamechanger. It should not be forgotten that of the 27,000 or so seats available to ITFC fans, a good number are restricted view or poor view so attendances since 21/22 have been good in my view. Looking at the post PL 2002 era, crowds really did dribble away, apart from the 14/15 play off season. A reflection of the club’s decline in addition to the dreadful football on offer after Magilton was kicked out. Assuming the worst, obviously tickets will become easier to come by and that should present the club with an opportunity to offer more to groups, schools, community - the future of the club. I believe optimism will still be there for the future. It’s a different place to the Evans year on year mediocrity is the aim environment and that makes a big difference. It should not be forgotten that STs were hard to come by in the return to the Championship so most people will have seen that season as well as this. There will be some that drop out but plenty that will opt in, at least for next season. I wouldn’t put too much store by ticket sales for an FA Cup game like this one.

14,000 tickets sold for the FA Cup match..... on 13:29 - Dec 29 with 6399 views | Illinoisblue | Talking of low attendances; home 1-1 draw v Norwich Aug 2016; just 23,350 there. I know that was the beginning of the tail end of McCarthy ball, but that is a shockingly poor crowd for a derby game.

14,000 tickets sold for the FA Cup match..... on 13:58 - Dec 29 with 6286 views | OldFart71 | My Son-in-Law who is on the list where you may or may not get a ticket for League matches. He doesn't want to go on his own, but could only get one ticket as I would have gone with him just to see a game of footie. It seems odd to me that they don't relax the way they sell tickets for a game such as this. I know you have to allow those with ST's to claim theirs first and I don't know how long they get to claim a ticket.

Maybe but after a decade of dross understandable. There is a cut of point for 75% of fans at every club only the blind faithful keep going. Others return when there is hope.

True, and our average that season was only 16k so 7k more than that is quite good in that context.

I'm not sure if I've misunderstood you, but tickets for the FA cup match are now open to any member to buy. Purchase was only restricted to season ticket holders wishing to take their seat until the 20th

Yes and I couldn't go to those games either. Stick on 3pm on a Saturday, I'm sure you'd find more people will go.

Can’t really blame people though can you? Pretty obvious that a Prem game is more desirable than our 2nd string vs a League One side. On a wider point do agree that in general there are things people need to accept the reality of, even if it’s a bit annoying.

I went on Galloways with Snr to Arsenal as it’s rare I get to travel much him. After the game getting back on the bus “did you enjoy your first away game?” Said one bloke to another as we sat down. Tickets have become such an issue this season/tail end of last season. You then come across stuff like that and it does beggar belief- there’s no will to properly police tickets because ultimately the club get the money don’t they? Likewise they could do kids for a quid or something and Rovers won’t sell out, the pool of fans wanting tickets only want them for a chance to buy a half and half etc

Glad you said this. Two lads near me, one was wearing an Arsenal shirt under his coat. An old school geezer (rightly) told him to Foxtrot Oscar when he spotted it and they obliged. No idea how tickets are getting in their hands. Friends and family of the club being handed out or resale? Loads of half and half scarves and popcorn eating too. Give me Blackburn away with 4k core Town fans any day.

I don’t really know why I posted that to be honest, I love that we pack out Portman Road these days. If we go down there will be a drop in support. I know a fair few people who used to smirk at the plight of “your lot” when we were in league one, only to cover up their Arsenal tattoo with a sparkly new Town shirt at the back end of last season. They’re already wavering.

People just been abusing the points knowing they can sell on any ticket I guess. Then have their pick of them when they actually want to go. The amount of half and half scarves around us at the emirates was appalling - can’t get my head around that mentality at all.
