So Rachael Reeve gets free concert ticket 07:53 - Mar 24 with 7834 views | onceablue | Subjecting everyone else to hardship but she gets to go to a free concert in a corporate box that I guess would be in the region of £1,000 for 2 people if not more. And then openly admits she couldn’t pay for them on TV but will declare their value Her PR person must have to permanently carry a shovel round with them It’s like declaring their value makes it Ok There is certain things unfortunately you can’t do when you are in a position like hers. Ask Mike Bassett😂😂😂 Also you wouldn’t need security if you hadn’t upset so many people with your lies

No different to when I might get a box at football courtesy of a customer or supplier. RKD spent half this season in corporate due to work.

Sort of agree, but it’s the optics. Many people get entertainment through work, but at the same time they aren’t cutting WFA for people like my grandparents who then had to struggle through winter* It’s more a read the room thing - like the Tories with their classic ‘we’re all in it together during austerity’ whilst claiming thousands of pounds in living costs (on top of generous salaries’. Then they’ll (Labour) wonder why they are portrayed as out of touch with working class people. *and now disability benefits. [Post edited 24 Mar 8:07]

Perk of her job I disagree. Perk of her position yes If there is a value to them surely she could donate that value to a charity Declaring them as hospitality on the register doesn’t affect her financially at all So it is a total freebie I am sure RKD was entertained because he had something to offer the entertainer 🤔

So Rachael Reeve gets free concert ticket on 08:12 - Mar 24 with 3402 views | bsw72 | This is getting boring. People in positions of authority and management get comped stuff all the time and generally because of the way boxes and tickets are purchased there is no way for the recipient to pay for it directly but follow compliance and legal guidelines to declare the value. Last year one of our vendors paid for me to fly to the US for their conference, others took me for dinner, NFL at Tottenham etc,I declared all of these and as we had existing contracts with them was not in conflict of any terms/conditions. That is how the world works, whether in politics or business. I’m pretty sure most people offered free stuff would accept it.

Ridiculous isn’t it. People get free stuff through work up and down the country every day, big and small.

So Rachael Reeve gets free concert ticket on 08:17 - Mar 24 with 3331 views | Herbivore | In the grand scheme of things, stuff like this is fairly irrelevant. It's not like they are funnelling millions of pounds of public money to their mates like the Tories were, and I can't imagine that Sabrina Carpenter is going to be made a peer because she gave Rachel Reeves some free concert tickets. However, the optics of someone accepting such an expensive gift while cutting disability benefits aren't great. Labour used to be the party that stuck up for the less fortunate, the perception now (correctly, imo) is that they are basically Cameron's Tory party with a different badge on and stuff like this feeds into that perception.

I believe there’s a difference. In the private sector in the last century when I was involved in it, half of building relationships was lunches, events, black tie dinners and all that jazz. They were faithfully recorded as was everything spent on my meagre expenses budget. It’s different in was part of the job and actually the best way of getting to know people. It’s largely different in the Public Sector. If you are a Civil Servant, for example, you have to be squeaky clean on everything if you’ve got any sense. A friend of mine knew every wrinkle when it came to working in Saudi and covered himself 100%. For me I thought he still pushed his luck. His successor wasn’t quite so precise and was sacked accordingly. Rightly so. Each to their own choices wise. As far as high (or low) profile government officials and ministers are concerned there’s another dynamic. Image, reputation, accusation. Why, for the sake of a freebie would you even offer one degree of opportunity to those who wish to accuse? Why go there? Why complicate things? I wouldn’t. If I did attend something like a free concert beyond establishing what the giver of the ticket wanted in return, I’d make damn sure that not only was every last penny was declared and the equivalent money was donated to charity from my own pocket.

Certainly not jealous don’t even like Sabrina Carpenter😂 It’s the principal Lord Lucan They came to power on a glorious wave declaring they were going to change the face of politics completely end all the sleaze of the Tory party party of the people etc But when it comes to our own personal gain no no we won’t change that. So Rachael Reeve gets free concert ticket on 08:49 - Mar 24 with 2964 views | baxterbasics | I don't love this sort of thing either, but there's plenty of other more important things to get upset about. So long as these 'freebies' haven't cost me anything - it's when they take liberties at taxpayers expense I think we need to get more aggravated. Alway worth remembering there are plenty of government officials in less robust countries syphoning millions or even billions into their own wallet whilst their people struggle in poverty, and it's just normal there. Countries we send aid too. Or at least used to...
