If we refuse will any of the players push a transfer request 12:14 - Jun 6 with 1779 viewshunty21

The players linked away Sammie Smozdics, O Shea? Omari Davis, Greaves

Personally its important we don't sell them if we want to build for prem league otherwise if we go up we are then back to square one of chucking 120m at championship players again for depth

Not if there is a release clause in their contract.

Also, generally, if a player requests a transfer, you are likely to agree as the player wants a move away - having unhappy players in your squad is never a good thing.

Also, to be fair to someone like Sammy, if a Prem team comes in for him, at his age, he is going to want to have that conversation, last potential pay day etc.

If a player makes it clear they want out, we are not going to stand in their way IMO.

That doesn't mean we would accept any old offer though, these other clubs are going to have to pay up. This isn't 2003 and the great itfc jumble sale.

First and foremost I would say every single one of our first team players is going to be linked with moves away, either because they played regular Prem minutes last season or because they didn't play and want to start this season. It's a really easy place for tabloids to start.

Secondly, transfer requests very rarely happen in Football anymore because of the financial penalties. Formally asking to leave while employed by a club constitutes a breach of that contract, and could mean a player is no longer entitled to contractual bonuses like signing-on fees and loyalty bonuses.

So in answer to your question, of course they will push for PL moves with their agents but I think them leaving really comes down to clubs meeting our valuations and us having confidence we can replace them with that money.

Could also be other players asking for requests for different reasons too. Would love to be a fly on the wall for those sorts of conversations.

I wouldn't be so sure that we wouldn't stand in a player's way; I feel that the management of the club isn't necessarily the soft touch that it used to be under Marcus Evans.

Every player will have their price, as part and parcel of the player-trading system under which the club is working these days. With that in mind, I cannot see that a transfer request would necessarily change the club's stance regarding the availability of a key player.

At the end of the day it all comes down to how that player is managed going forwards. Look at Gnonto at Leeds the other summer, for example. A very high-profile flinging of toys from the pram, but now seemingly settled and playing well for them.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

Depends how a contract is structured - an element of a player salary will usually be a lump sum paid annually as a loyalty bonus, this bonus is forfeited should a player request a move . . .

I'd expect an outright refusal to be unlikely. More likely that we'd attempt to come to a mutually agreeable proposal for them to stay, and if the player was absolutely set on moving, we' let them leave as long as our valuation is met by the interested club.

The comfort I have, is Ashton and McKenna have repeatedly said they have at least 2 replacement options for every position.

So if someone leaves, they will have options immediately (relatively) and won't be scratching around looking for the next Leon Best.

You sure, we have failed to sign a 9 in the past few windows bar Delap who is now gone, so who are the 2 replacements up front that McK and MA have in mind?

Even CM. I struggle to think of who is coming in to replace Cajuste (if we fail to sign him perm) and Luongo.

Playing AAH for the stretch of Prem games when Hirst was out wasn't much different from (in your words) getting another Leon Best.

With the lack of an overseas scouting network, if Hirst leaves it will be curtains for us.

Doesn’t work like that anymore. Players will have taken a pay cut due to relegation and agent will earn less as a result so will work to get their player the best deal which in turn will make them richer
