Might explain their early activity, time will tell if they are trading up or just slowing the slide

Oh they're definitely using the Sainz/Sargent money upfront, knowing full well that they'll have to sell both of them.

The end result will be a host of Scandis untested and physically weak at Championship level.

I wish they'd been able to keep him really, absolute liability. They've positively pulled Porto's pants down there, I think. (nice bit of alliteration never hurt anybody). It's the one thing that nothing club is good at - getting inflated prices for middling players.

£14m (or whatever it is) for a player with one year left on his contract, and who downed tools since Christmas isn’t bad going.

I’m opposite to you on this as I think he’s a very good championship player - I think Porto have done well to get him for a cheap (relatively speaking) price.

Liabilty yes. But he and sargent basically saved them from relegation

Losing those two and bringing in unknown qualities COUlD be the nail in their champ coffin

a niche perspective

£10m up front, plus £4m in top ups, for the 2nd highest scorer in the Championship doesn't sound like a lot to me.

Personally I think they should have got more, and maybe would have if it wasn't for his revolting disciplinary issues.

He's flashy with the ball at his feet, but runs into trouble (apart from in his purple patch) can't distribute and does no defensive work. Hah, I have to admit that's based on watching only a handful of their games last season, if I'm honest, but the OinkUn seems to be mostly of a similar opinion now, unless they're just pissy now he's left them.

I agree, very good player at Championship level despite being a complete pr1ck. Sargent is good too, he knows how to score and will be a loss if he goes as well.

Unfortunately I quite like their recruitment. Medic could be an astute signing, and Jacob Wright has looked a good player when I’ve seen him. One I wanted us to go for actually, as a young CM. How the Danish lad settles feels like it might make or break them this season, he’s cost a decent chunk and they look light of goals if they lose both of Sainz and Sargent. I’m sure they’ll add another forward and i can’t see them going down, but there’s a lot of pressure on the young Dane to hit the ground running. Mid table beckons for them I’d say.

Actually think they have done very well to get that amount. It was widely known that he only had one year left on his contract and that Norwich wanted to sell.

I do think he is a very good Championship player, however think he is easier to replace, than if Sargent goes.

Yep Jacob Wright is annoyingly good signing, as is the Danish lad who I like a lot. Wouldn't suit our system but certainly has something about him.

Good news is the keeper they signed is shaky as anything.

Definitely good that they're losing their two best players but the replacements are anything but average from what I've seen.

Don't get me wrong, our squad is stronger so we wouldn't be after the same players but for them, the likes of Kvistgaarden, Medic from Ajax and Darling on a free are very good signings by anyones standard at this level.

I was most annoyed last season when they signed Ante Crnac as I know some big clubs were watching him and he has the potential to be one of the best in the division in a year or two - Dortmund have already been sniffing.

Good news is, it's them so they'll hopefully f**k it all up
