New series already made. Winner / finalists will expect to be well compensated by the Beeb, as it seems set to be canned...

Quite impressive how much they’ve managed to fk up. Say what you like about Delia, I bet she never groped or racial abused guests . Although she did have some pretty disgusting ‘recipes’.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

I'm a bit gutted.

I wonder if he's going to fight or not, as he says he doesn't think it happened. Hope the beeb's lawyers are sure it did or this whole thing will rumble on for ages more.

Surely they can't air it now after all the controversy. Perhaps the could pixelate the faces of Torode and Wallace and overdub the voices with actors but in a woke way. Torode gets a Carribean lilt and Wallace gets the voice of an effeminate metrosexual.

(I'm taking half my upvote back for the use of the word 'woke', but thanks for the mental image of them both pixelated!

I’d got bored of it, but a couple of decent new presenters could pull me on 17:30 - Jul 15 with 1330 viewsJohn_Warks_Willy

back in.

Good opportunity to refresh it I’d say

Maybe a way to move on will be to financially compensate the finalists who attended and then invite them back to film a new series which could be an extended finals?

I'm guessing you might have nailed it there. (Edit: as in what will happen)

Torode is employed by the production company and I think it is it that employed independent lawyers to investigate.

The firm is Lewis Silkin which is an employment law specialist, so I can't imagine it would have left any stone unturned.

Compared to versions around the World, UK Masterchef is terrible.

I don’t understand why a decision even needs to be made on the new series. Old series are still available to watch on iPlayer with both presenters in them so surely the obvious answer is just to air them with a message at the start noting they were filmed before allegations came to light, BBC does not condone and both have now been relieved of their roles etc

Maybe a bit of editing to minimise their appearances, eg. Not cutting to Gregg going ‘CORRRRR’ and ‘WOWWWWW’ every 5 seconds, but accepting that they will be shown when judging and announcing results

Seems a much better solution than ruining the chance for people who have done nothing wrong to appear and benefit from a competition that has already taken place

A number of years ago it was said that both presenters didn't get on and there was a huge wall of silence around it all. I guess the last year or so has kind of shed some light on it a tiny amount. I still feel there is more to come unfortunately.

They could always ask former presenter Loyd Grossman back again

I think that's definitely a personal opinion and taste thing. I prefer it to Australia, US and South African versions.
The Aussie one manages to drag about 50 episodes out of ten's worth of content.

They should get Si King to do it.

He could save the brand, is excellent at getting the best from people who aren't used to being on TV, and is as close to a national treasure as can be found!

Plus it is a programme of similar status to Hairy Bikers, so it would give him a great chance to resume his career with something different to what he has done before, but that will let him shine.

They'll probably just pair Jay Rayner with Grace Dent, but Si King would be better than either.

wouldn't be suprised if Ainsley Harrott might gets the role. He and Dent male/female black white meet diversity wishes media people are keen on. Like Si King, Ainsley has the same matey vibe that would give nervous amateur chefs a bit of heart. Grace then does the straight man role (in a comedic sense). Could be they prefer someone with a professional chef background rather than tv chef though.

Every time there has been a format change, the Great British Public have complained in numbers. We don't like change, it seems. That's a great shame - Australian Masterchef is so much more entertaining, US too.

If it is a professional chef who has a restaurant currently then they need to be London based, and have an extremely well set up brigade system as their absences would mount up.

Or, intriguingly, MasterChef the Professionals hosts, Marcus Wareing and Monica Galetti, and former host, Michel Roux Jr, have all closed their restaurants recently for work-life balance reasons, and so have a lot more free time for TV now. They have, or have had, contracts with Banijay, the production company who makes MasterChef for the BBC.

Ainsley Harriott was a comedy actor who lucked out hosting Can't Cook, Won't Cook, and is all about the fun and silliness. And, let's be honest, is a bit Marmite- plenty of people just think he is as described on the sausage packet above!

MasterChef has launched some very serious careers, and Si King, although an everyman figure, as Wallace was supposed to be, is right at the heart of the "foodie" revolution in British culture and so would have enough substance to carry it off.

Other names with TV hosting experience:

Jimmy Doherty, Simon Rimmer, Matt Tebbutt (please no), James Martin (triple please no).

Good current chefs with TV profile and decent inter-personal skills:
Richard Bainbridge (would be excellent but a trek from his restaurant in Norwich), Sally Abé (one of the standouts from Great British Menu this year who has taken what looks like a less pressured job in a Gastro pub in the Cotswolds recently), my completely random suggestion is Scott Smith, who has been on Great British Menu and recently closed his fine dining restaurant in Edinburgh to go in with a firm opening a Gastro pub, he has the looks, is personable, and has a non-London accent.

Simon Rogan, Angela Hartnett and Tom Kerridge are too busy with multi-restaurant groups.

Plenty of chefs have historical "HR issues" lurking, having been as shouty and angry as Marco Pierre White and Gordon Ramsay when that was seen as the way to do it, or stories in the press about screwing staff on tips, or closing restaurants leaving big debts to suppliers or people with Gift Vouchers angry, so wouldn't be a safe pair of hands for the brand right now!
