It's a sizeable risk for a player with one decent season at the level below.

Equally has the potential to be an Ivan Toney esq deal.

Certainly would not swap him for Akpom.

Agree, not much of an upgrade (if at all) on AAH.

Wasn’t overly impressed. If he was a must buy you’d think Cam would have had a word and been in a good position to advise.

Completely agree - frankly AAH is our Kone (a lower league player with promise stepping up). We certainly don't need another

Always difficult to rule a player out but I have watched him 3 times and been unconvinced.

Could have been our new Sam Parkin

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

Aside from the fact they are both players who have gone to the championship from Lower league clubs I struggle to see the comparison.

Kone is a much more refined footballer, much more intelligent player, much quicker, much more mobile, better in the air and scored his goals a level higher than Ali did.

I see a lot of Ivan Toney in him and am very shocked we haven't gone in for him given our previous interest.

The improvement in him in 18 months has been very impressive.

Think he might be one we regret longer term and possibly if we are in the position to we will have to spend big money.

I actually think that's a good career step move for him, rather than coming to a club like ours.

Looks like a great move for him, QPR now have a very exciting front 4.

As you say his improvement has been crazy and to still be only 22 he might have a lot more still to do. But he is easily a championship striker now.

I must have missed the bit where Kone scored 4 in 3 games worth of Champ minutes.

Im speaking about the player though. How well rounded the player is. There is more to football and more to being a striker than scoring goals.

I like AAH and certainly haven't written him off. But I think Kone is a better and more well rounded player with a higher ceiling from watching both of them play a lot.

'much' quicker and 'much' more mobile than AAH?

I very much doubt it, pace is one of AAH's best attributes so unless Kone is the next Usain Bolt then I can't see that.

You have also compared him to Ivan Toney, who is not blessed with much pace at all, so are somewhat contradicting yourself.

I watched Kone the second part of the season and play offs nothing like Toney a hellava gamble. Much better out there but hey I'm not a expert.

😂

If pace is one of AAH best attributes then that still gives me hope of playing. I’ve tried really hard to like him but every time I’ve seen him play in a town shirt he looks like he’s running in treacle.

I remember seeing some stats on Al Hamadi and the suggestion was he was very quick according to the data. I must say he never looks electric quick but I think he is deceptively quick.

How much have we seen him at full fitness, he looked pretty lively when he first came in?

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

Yes, AAH was never exceptionally quick when he was at AFCW to my eyes, not slow by any means but what he is a very powerful runner, uses his body to outmuscle defenders on the ball, and runs hard with intent. Not for a minute calling him immobile. Kone is quicker than Al Hamdi on pure speed. So often he bursts away down the channels and is a mismatch even for full backs.

The comparison to Toney im not sure is me contradicting myself, the comparison with him in more in terms of how I see him progressing up the leagues rather than play style. Toney a talisman in league one who then proved he could cut it at champ level and eventually became a top flight footballer. Im not sure he is as good as Toney but I was more comparing their rise. Certainly similarities as finishers though, both feet, come alive in the box, and can match defenders for strength.
