You pay for potential as well sometimes, with the age and league he is paying in, it means actually getting him is a possibility. The fact that PSV were in Denmark this summer should tell you that he has been identified as a serious talent. Deals like the Nathan Broadhead deal make the the risk feels less in our current financial state.
The main concern is someone swoops in like we did with Akpom, hopefully the fee and the relative uncertainty about him playing at a top level in the major European leagues put other clubs off.

PSVs approach is conscious and deliberate. They've had a record year commercially, champions and obviously in the champions league with a massive profit on transfers. They do have the dry powder but just aren't run to spend big money on unproven talent. | |

Given his age he doesn’t even need to be a huge success to at least get money back. But the upside is he scores a lot of goals and moves on for a very nice profit. | | | |

How is the Danish top flight a pub league!!? It's a very decent level pretty similar to the champ - certainly the big boys in that league. Very good players have come out of that league. | |

I am not saying it does but there are non parachute clubs regularly chucking around 8 figures fees now. We just sold Delap, Broadhead and Hutchinson and are newly relegated, if we have done our homework, we have to think big.
The strategy seems more sound this off season IMO with widening the net. | |
