If I’m honest, good. I don’t think a team full of loanees is a good thing.

We need to exploit the loan market to its full potential. They are effectively cheat codes for this league if used correctly.

Always seemed a pointless target this one. Newcastle fans were laughing about it when the link originally surfaced,I think they only have 4 CMs available themselves. Was never gonna happen.

If there is any truth in the bid it's good to get apparently definite answers from clubs and players and move on. If true also shows we're still after another centre mid which is good.

Was gonna say. Now I know its FM. But surely the agent would let us know if it's a feasible option.

Perhaps the loan is available but our loan fee offer wasn't good enough. Or we wanted an obligation to buy but they didn't.

I just can't see the club sending a formal loan offer without being told its possible.

It does say formal enquiry rather than bid, and this is lodged with the club first before we speak to any agents from what I understand. Google AI summary:

Tapping up is an illegal approach to a contracted player without the prior written consent of their current club, violating FIFA and league rules like those in the Premier League. Any club, official, player, or agent must get written permission before approaching a player about a transfer to prevent disputes and ensure fair play. Violations can lead to fines, transfer bans, and points deductions for the offending club.

Key aspects of the anti-tapping-up rules:

Written Consent is Mandatory
A buying club must have written permission from the player's current club before initiating any discussions with the player or their representatives.

Direct or Indirect Approaches are Banned
Any contact, whether by the club itself, an official, a player, or an agent, is forbidden without prior approval.

Agents' Role
Agents cannot advertise their players to prospective clubs or discuss deals without obtaining the current club's prior written consent.

But it would have worked out very different if we failed to go up. If we go up a few will stay like Akpom and Cajuste but if not we will as I said doing it all again.

Seems weird to apparently make it known he's in their plans and won't be loaned. Unless he wants more games. I suppose Newcastle wants him as he's not a squad place anyway, and doubt he's a big wage. So from all of that the only hope we'd have would be the player really wanting to force it which I'm not sure if he would.

Agents have increasingly more power but they don't own the registration of players. Don't see why you wouldn't submit an enquiry to the actual club vs. tap up an agent in this scenario, there's no reason not to. It's not like he's going to throw his toys out of the pram and demand his dream loan move to Ipswich.

He gave us the best chance of going up but we didn't have a contract that we couldn't afford if we didn't.

I want some more permanents as well but the loan market this is a major chance to get PL talent for top end champ clubs, especially for younger players that need more playing time but would never come otherwise.

I don’t think it matters. There’s no more loyalty or effort in a ‘permanent signing’ (who may only be with us a year) than a loan player knowing he needs to deliver to get on in his career. The only issue with loans is when they’re rubbish or not ready for our level, but that’s a problem with picking the wrong player rather than an issue with loans.

At this stage it's a no, give it a couple of weeks if Newcastle has signed a couple of CMs then who knows. At least they will know we are intt

But it didn’t work out differently. He was a valuable part of the team. Took him a while to adjust and get bedded in, but he was unplayable at times towards the end of that season. That’s what a loan of a player above your normal level can give you (see also Gio, Murphy, Andrews, Bullard part 1, etc).

The players we have on loan currently will ALL stay if we go up. No harm in having one or two players like Miley who are Prem level but not going to get loads of football at their parent clubs.
