Probably will be my least missed member of the back-to-back group.

Arrogant, lazy, constantly bickering with fans, vocal about how he’s not actually a Ipswich fan despite being a local lad, pushed for a move when we were at our lowest, supporting Downes when he downed tools, supporting Omari when he did the same, and then petulant cryptic social media posts like we saw the other day.

Add to that, he’s a decidedly average defender that was carried by the rest of the team. Yeah, he can ping a pass, but even at that he’s not as good as O’Shea. Thinks he’s something that he’s not.

Won’t be missed.

Completely disagree but there we go. Can't see how O'Shea is a massive upgrade to the tune of £11m. Rarely let us down once McKenna came in and looked decent when called upon in the Premier League. Was a key player in our double promotion, and McKenna is not the kind to accept someone who was arrogant and lazy for too long.

When did he push for a move when we were at our lowest as well? If I remember right, Cook wanted him out but he stayed because of the club developed rule.

TLDR: The OP is little more than a vile, poisonous word salad.

OR

Quality player, more or less comfortable at PL level, behind DO'S primarily because of lack of pace, understandably keen to get regular games at this stage in his career. Important part of a fantastic three year Town evolution. Deserves thanks and respect. Not some know-nothing tvvat slinging sh!t.

I disagree with an awful lot of that, but it does feel like he's suddenly gone from being one of our weaker links when we got promoted to the prem, to being a 'top-quality' championship defender.

I'll miss him and would have loved for him to stay, but only as back up to O'Shea. That clearly wasn't going to work for him and that's fair enough

I think he was only a weak link in the eyes of some. I'm not sure if that was a unified opinion.

Whilst I agree entirely with your post, you do have to wonder what it is about his game that McKenna doesn’t fancy given the moment we went up and had cash to spend, he spent £12m to replace him.

Again, whether that was the correct choice is another matter, but clearly something there that McKenna feels the need to first purchase, and then continue to play O’Shea ahead of him for the best part of 12 months now.

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…

Top Tip - Read the OP in Alan Rickman's Snape voice, makes it much more entertaining. Although doesn't make it any truer.

This is the baffling thing about McKenna's approach. Not just with Woolfenden but with the likes of Burgess and Broadhead. "We want to keep them we want them to be here..." Yet all three were replaced at the first opportunity upon promotion which makes the words sound hollow.

There's a softer version of this post that would have got a lot more positive traction/agreement.

Concern over childish social media post? Valid.
Potentially overrated by some and not the Rolls Royce he's made out to be? Possibly valid.

But arrogant and lazy? Not sure how you've come to that conclusion.

For what it's worth I think he's got qualities (reading of the game and calmness on the ball particularly) that we could really use this season, that O'Shea doesn't necessarily have, and that we'll miss. I even wish we could leave the door open to him playing alongside O'Shea at times, but we are so rigid in our approach to the right side/left side thing so it won't happen.

Ultimately I think he's not physical enough or quick enough to make the top level long term though, and overall we're stronger defensively (and from attacking set pieces) with O'Shea and Greaves.

I sort of wish we'd switch to a back three. With our wingers struggling I think that could be a strength going forwards.

Palmer
O'Shea - Woolfenden - Greaves
Johnson - Matusiwa - Cajuste - Davis
Chaplin - Szmodics
Akpom

The likes of Clarke and Philogene would have more impact against tiring defences.

What a load of nonsense, i think a huge number of town fans will disagree with 100% of your comments.

IMO Woolfy / Broadhead / Burgess were our 3 most underrated players. All gone

No significant, noticeable upgrade who has come in to challenge any of them.

Look at the promotion parties if you question whether Woolfy is an Ipswich fan and loves/loved the club or not.

Clueless

It's enough that the manager thinks he is though isn't it. He's never going to oust the club captain from the team and if he's not happy to be 1st reserve then I get why he would want away.

I'm surprised that my post has been met by almost 100% disagreement.

I'm sorry, but I've never warmed to the bloke. I support all our players, and love many of them. But Woolfenden has always been one I've struggled with. Not my cup of tea at all.

Disagree with most of it.
