Hirst's disallowed goal 09:50 - Sep 13 with 2685 viewsEJP

Phil said "only to see the linesman’s flag raised for a tight but probably correct offside" but I wondered if SKY said anything about it?

They just mentioned that it was tight but the linesman probably got it right. However looking at the recording of it I made i would say that VAR would have measured Hirst as onside. The defenders foot was advance of Hirst at the moment of the pass.

Having said that, VAR *might* have given handball by Hirst for his goal, so at least we got one of them.

He looked just onside to me. But it was very tight. Like you say maybe inches in it.

The TownTV angle wasn't perfect, but to me it looked like that foot was playing him on.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Looked just on, Sky skimmed over it.

Although to be fair, the keeper pulled out the save once the ref had blown anyway.

Can't remember what they said, but on the TV he looked a good couple of feet offside, so was expecting the flag to go up.

I was pretty much in line with it, more than the lino was. I thought it was fractionally offside, my son was adamant that it was onside. So it must have been so tight and thankfully the game did not hinge on it.

Yes, camera angles can give a false impression.

Sky felt it was very tight & commented that linesmen should give the advantage to the attacker in these situations. However, I'd rather have the occasional call like this go against us than put up with the near insufferable VAR.

Just as well it was disallowed, as otherwise we would have been deprived of Philogene's hat-trick goal.

Replay showed defender leg keeping him inside for me. Fantastic finish. Showed this whole Hirst form thing is nonsense. As soon as we raised our intensity he is much more involved. Azon looks great competition for him as well!

Yes it was a really fine finish. I also think it was jussst onside, and if we'd come away with a draw, we would be rightly irritated that a gaol like that was ruled out. As it happens, no harm done.

I wasn't so impressed with Azon, I must say. But obviously early days, and there was so very much to love about last night. I'm also happy to be set straight, because it's a difficult role, and one that isn't always glamorous when the wingers are on fire and scoring for fun themselves.

It was tight, but it looked the correct decision.

No idea whether it was a right decision, but was gutted for Hirst as it was a cracking finish.
