That there was nothing about this weeks Champions league games that had me compelled to watch. I love football, always have done, just nothing remotely interesting about them to me.

Give me Boro v West Brom over that any day.

The new first stage of the tournament is a dreadful money making exercise!

The previous group stage may have occasionally provided some surprises but was often tedious. The knockout stage in the CL is still enjoyable to watch.

I’m not a particular fan or watcher of the champions league in general but you missed some great games.

The counterpoint is obviously that the results mean very little for the rest of the competition.

This ‘new’ Champions league is absolutely shíte.

Can’t beat the good old group stages.

It’s no surprise that the ‘random draw’ gave us some tasty ties this week and further into it to get people interested.

Give me an old fashioned knock out cup anyday. Home and away move on, leagues are so boring.

The 4-4 between Juventus and Dortmund was rather entertaining.

Other than the finals, I reckon I've watched less than five Champions League games in the last ten years.

Quite enjoyed the new format last season, although as with any league it only gets interesting as it progresses. So it's no surprise that the first couple of rounds of fixtures feel a bit dull

Each to their own. It all felt underwhelming apart from Newcastle/Barcelona.

Say what you want about Newcastle but when their fans are fired up it's always a good watch

Just a precursor to a super league, innit. Revolving slate of games that don’t mean anything than to act as a vehicle to make money.

They said on commentary that if you get to the final it was 17 or 18 games (can't remember which). That's nearly half a Premier League season. Madness.

I miss it being on ITV. Weeknight game that everyone could watch gave it a sense of occasion.

I dont agree with the new format but it does throw some cracking games up rather than the tedious group stages where the big clubs were all separated to make sure they got through to the knock out stage.

It's another hugely expanded competition with the aim of big teams regularly playing each other, without being knocked out. The big league table is ridiculous, and I see matches are now spread over three days.

I used to watch the odd match when it was on ITV, but don't have TNT so ignore it now.

It already is a super league.

how are they counting those ?

because the league phase has 8 games vs the 6 they used to play as groups.

then its round of 16, qfs,sf,f as before, so thats only 2 games more than they used to play.

for sure theres the bonus of a playoff game in the league if you dont make the top 8 automatic spots but that seems weird to count that.

so thats 15 vs 13 they used to play.

you only get to 17 or 18 if you start including qualifiers and even then they cant be counting both legs of those, or play offs from the qualifiers, but somehow I dont see the likes of the Lincoln Red Imps, FC Noah or Zrinjski Mosta getting to the final.

The middle eight all go into play-offs I think, obviously designed to generate yet more matches and income.

There's never anything about Champions League games which make me feel compelled to watch - unless and until Ipswich are in them.
