We’ll line them up in the first game then deliver the knockout the second.

Agree. Would have been better at home but that's a tie we should win. Won't be easy there in either game but we should be confident.

Yep crap draw. Tough game and away from home.

Bad draw. I don't love this, giving the context of how important it is to be promoted as a parachute club in a lower points kind of season. Obviously you have to beat Blackpool at home, but thanks to Pompey fiasco just before NYs and the other sides losing, we have a lot more 3 games weeks than our promotion rivals. We might have the squad for rotation but it changes a lot in terms of schedules, training, preparation for for league games, especially when you're on the road in a lot of them. Didn't want the embarrassment of losing to Blackpool but I think going out to a mid table PL side might have served us better tbh. Like what happened to Boro. Cov will be looking a much clearer schedule and not having to worry about dropping any more points to us. I blame some of this on Portsmouth! Hope we smash them [Post edited 12 Jan 19:08]

Its one of them where its good if you're winning and Boro / Cov aren't, you want the games to come thick & fast and as you say we've got the squad to rotate. We're capable of a good run that could see us cement our place in the top 2 and having the game in hand can take a bit of pressure off. Very much works the other way if a gap opens up against us though. On balance I'm not sure its a huge problem. There's upside to be had from a cup run too and keeps everyone fresh. EDIT: Sorry, also meant to add its the same for our opponents on the midweek. We only need to be better than who we're playing, and you might argue it benefits the club with deeper pockets and greater squad depth to go Saturday - Tuesday more than it does the likes of Pompey. Of course Derby have the advantage in that instance. [Post edited 12 Jan 19:20]

It's going to make the tie tactical, if we simply don't want to give any clues for the league game At least we can try and learn from it for the league game

I am talking about the fixture pile up in general though, we have 2 more 3 game weeks than our closest promotion rivals, with a lot of them away from home. It's not necessarily that cup mid week, by the time we play Watford for example (huge league game that will be) it will be what, our 5th game in 21 days? Four of those on the road. Nothing we can do about it but don't think it's a good thing with others going out, Pompey rearrangement and a tie away from home. Going to be a lot of management of the squad, scheduling and travel in February, hopefully we can keep everyone fit.

Which should make tickets easier to come by as most won't want to travel there twice in a week.

Personally, now we've got one cup game out the way i sincerely hope we don't see any regular first teamers in that next cup fixture Absolutely no way should we see azor, nunez, philogene, davis, oshea, furlong in the lineup. And I know, some of the kids arent apparently ready. I don't care. chuck them in.

Chucking kids in who aren't ready can do them more harm than good.

| wrexham on 08:38 - Jan 13 with 1242 views | PioneerBlue | Not exactly what KMck wanted in terms of a test versus higher opposition. Certainly could have done without the Feb away sequence but it is what it is. Hopefully the club will plan properly in order that training isnt as disrupted as it might be. From a club a d squad point of view its a chance to progress and means the players continue getting game time which could be beneficial to our league form (fingers crossed) | |
