But he won't actually cease being leader/PM until after a successor is chosen and I guess that won't be till Labour conference in the Autumn.

I care not a jot for Starmer or most of what has gone on under his Stewardship. I just think it might be best for the country if we can go an election or two without playing musical PMs mid cycle yet again. Not good for stability or coherent government whichever team happens to be in charge.

| Have we done a sweepstake for when Starmer resigns? on 14:43 - Feb 9 with 469 views | thebooks | He might limp through to Gorton and Denton, but when Labour get wiped out in a Manchester seat, that’ll do for him. This despite the fact they have no other options, Starmer having sewn up the last intake, the NEC and Rayner still being under investigation. So 27 Feb. | | | |

And let’s hope he wins it. The alternative really does not bear thinking about. Farage will play to his red neck trumpish base and the hollowing out of the hard working aspirational citizen will go into overdrive. Scary stuff!!

Nice to see Mandelson’s best mate, the Leader for Scottish Labour, piling on the pressure. No conflict there…

They all seem unbelievably stupid. Or is it just naive? Or do they think we’re the stupid ones who are so tribal we won’t care? Why would you use that attack line if you had your own Mandleson-shaped hole in your past? It such an easy win for Sarwar’s detractors. Unbelievable stuff.

Who knows. There’s an air of unreality, arrogance, greed and stupidity about them that beggars belief. I’ve seen (at a distance) just how stupid their predecessors were, with a nice big dollop of criminality in the case of the last lot on top. The ones at the top of the heap are not there to serve the people or their constituents. Public service? Nah, that old hat is for mugs. They are in it for themselves. Burying the bad news, sticking dodgy people in the HoL for their influence, expenses, tax massaging, lies, chucking others under the bus to save yourself. You name it, they’ll do it. Anything goes. Accountability, responsibility? No, that gets lumped on minions that cannot fight back. This shower are not as bad as the last lot, but that is no excuse for messes like this let alone their yawning incompetence. And anyone thinking it’ll be better with Farage’s fruit loops dream on. It’s very depressing.
