Will McKenna have his data next season ? 00:04 - May 7 with 3086 viewsjaseitfc2015

I am remembering this right or was there something last time we were in the premier league where he couldn’t use the data he used the championship ?

The data set the club were using was a product from Brighton, so when Ipswich went up they were not permitted to use it. It was the plan, Ashton said, to be in a position where Ipswich had their own data system rather than relying on others. Not sure where it has got to, but along with wider recruitment I presume it's been developed greatly.

Related: looks like we still have our deal with goalkeeper.com.

Announced to great fanfare in the summer of 2024 and credited with us signing Muric. Since then, goalkeeper.com have announced they have signed contracts with, checks notes, absolutely no other clubs. Which makes the cynic in you wonder what they’re selling us. Oh well, we need a new keeper so this will be an interesting test of their data.

TBF Muric is a good keeper.

Not sure if data systems can detect brain farts though.

The cynical view might also be that it’s also owned/part owned by one of the private equity investors.

Seems odd they have no other clients.

Has it been announced they have no other clients, or have no other clients been announced...?

Paradigm Sports Intelligence is the club's own data/AI effort and was previously called GameChanger 20 Data. On LinkedIn it looks like 3 current full time employees. https://www.linkedin.com/compa

It all looks a bit amateurish doesn’t it ? I’m not convinced by it at all.

It's currently jus an internal company, doesn't need to be marketed to anyone, it's just a profile essentially.

Don't panic.

The only other club partnership I could find was MLS side Charlotte FC in 2023. I get that data and analytics is all the rage now and in a game of tight margins having just a 1% edge over your rivals could possibly make a difference, but curious to know what the data can show around goalkeeping that a professional coach couldn’t see.

With a link to their not built website “my wordpres is coming” makes you wonder why they even bother with a LinkedIn profile.

Leeds use (have used) them too. They don't publish as list of clients, so impossible to know. There is also evidence that some Football associations use them - Swedish and Scottish for example.

Still a platform on LinkedIn to connect talent.

Especially when you're searching for very specific roles.

I remember when he signed there was a lot of talk about how error prone he was. It seems odd in hindsight we didn’t do a bit more due diligence on that.

Jamestown Analytics?

Tony Bloom owns / has something to do with them - Hearts are using them and are doing rather well out of it. Claudio Braga came from the Norwegian second tier as one example.

Remember when Scouts, references, good feedback and the eye test was the way of things. Got us players like Wilnis, Venus, Mowbray, Holland, Stewart and co. before all this Will Still Football Manger nonsense came in!

It's not about buying players purely based on a spreadsheet. It's a tool to sift through the thousands of potential players so you can work out where to focus your attention. Scouts will still do detailed assessments of players before we buy them, but if you can use analytics to identify which ones are worth assessing, you can cover more ground.

In the last 6 months we've appointed two very experienced scouts in Peter Braund as head of European scouting and José Mayorga as head of Americas scouting. I think the data side of things is mainly about whittling down the list of players for the scouts to go and look at.

I actually put Jason Lines, who runs it, in touch with the club not that long after the takeover. He was working at UEA at the time. Seemed very capable from the conversations I had with him at the time, not spoken to him recently.
