| Summer squad revamp 11:03 - May 12 with 3724 views | itfcjoe | Out of Contract players: Harry Clarke - take option and sell Wes Burns - Mutual release Conor Chaplin - Release Conor Townsend - Release David Button - Release Cameron Humphreys - Take option and Sell Other players surplus to requirements: Ali Al-Hamadi - Loan/Sell Alex Palmer - Sell Cieran Slicker - Loan/Sell Chieo Ogbene - Loan/Sell Elkan Baggott - Loan Aro Muric - Loan/Sell Sam Szmodics - Loan/Sell Chuba Akpom - Loan/Sell Remaining squad XXX = New signing [Under 21] GK - XXX, Walton, [Gray] RB - XXX, Furlong LB - Davis, XXX CB - O'Shea, Kipre CB - XXX, Greaves CM - XXX, Matusiwa CM - XXX, Taylor RW - XXX, McAteer, [Walle Egeli] 10 - XXX, Nunez, Mehmeti LW - Philogene, Clarke CF - XXX, Hirst, XXX Utility - Johnson This leaves us needing 9 signings to take us up to a 25 man squad, plus potentially another U21 signing which wouldn't count against the cap limit. Someone like Ben Johnson could also go, but his versatility is useful. Nunez and Mehmeti cover a couple of positions each. Would be handy if one of the new CFs could also play an alternate attacking role as well just for an extra bit of versatility Those 9-10 signings will probably end up the thick end of £150m, a massive amount of work to do to get the right quality over the line but those are the positions and roles I'd be targetting | |

| Summer squad revamp on 11:07 - May 12 with 2337 views | _CliveBaker_ | That's absolutely bob on for me. I don't want to sound like a broken record but Flemming could be the forward you refer to, number 9 or 10. | | | |
| Summer squad revamp on 11:08 - May 12 with 2310 views | leitrimblue | Yep, think you've pretty much nailed that. Might as well pin this post to the top of the board and over next couple of months we can hopefully tick off the new signings replacing those xxx | | | |

I've always rated Flemming too, good physical unit which also helps.

| Summer squad revamp on 11:13 - May 12 with 2238 views | BseaBlue | Probably spot on but could see it being a couple of under 21 signings. Plenty of work to do so hopefully the new recruitment team is in full swing. You can't help but feel that with the spine of the team needing so much work, that it heightens the risks. | | | |
| Summer squad revamp on 11:14 - May 12 with 2230 views | burnbudgiesburn | Are Cam Humphreys & Harry Clarke going to be on Prem wages is the question and then the other question will be if that limits what we can sell them for. I agree with all your outgoings. Hirst would be 3rd forward for me, and I may look to shift Mehmeti on if we had a decent offer but as you say his ability to play in more than one position is valuable. We may also like to see if he can step up first. | | | |
| Summer squad revamp on 11:17 - May 12 with 2199 views | Marshalls_Mullet | Keep Burns, if he wants to stay. Knows the system inside out, and a great option off the bench. Agree with the rest. | |

| Summer squad revamp on 11:18 - May 12 with 2195 views | tractorboy1978 | Yep, that's broadly what I think except I make it 10 new signings to go up to a squad of 25. Then could be another 1-2 U21 additions too. Wouldn't surprise me if Mehmeti went with the right offer either. [Post edited 12 May 11:42]

I like Flemming, but its annoying we are going to end up paying top money when we could have had him for a lot less the first season we went up - I remember we were linked heavily with him.
| Summer squad revamp on 11:18 - May 12 with 2195 views | Dennyx4 | Could Slicker be the 3rd choice keeper? Guess you have gone with Gray as it doesn’t take a squad place (under 21) | | | |

Yep, he could but both had decent spells in L2 so went with the one who wouldn't use up a squad space in that regard - can't see Palmer being happy to be here as a number 3 keeper. And if your 3rd choice keeper needs to play a run of games then you are going to get relegated anyway so may as well not use a space up!

Agree, I said the same the other day. He was superb for Millwall and we were fishing in the Championship pond at the time. Would've thought we could have got him if we wanted over then Championship Burnley. Only £7m as well, I remember that being one I really wanted us to do. They'll get at least double that I imagine.

Yeah. He's not now a 'cheap' option as your utility forward is he? Can get better value if our scouting/recruitment has improved as we hope.
| Summer squad revamp on 11:23 - May 12 with 2102 views | SmithersJones | Only thing I’d quibble with there is the central midfield roles. We probably need 5 players, albeit one could be a bit more utility. Shame Johnson can’t cover there. Someone who can play CM or LB would be ideal. | | | |

He's not a youngster, so that could work in our favour as he wont fit the model of some teams. He is a proven PL goal scorer, so I would pay a premium for that over an unproven cheaper alternative. We could probably go for both.

Guess Nunez can be moved back to there if we are able to get a versatile player like Flemming mentioned above, or we pick up an U21 for that role

Is nunez fit enough for the prem? When he signed nodge fans mentioned he ran out of steam after a run of games, and we kinda had that situation too Could he poss be one of those signings that helped us get up but thanks but on your way..

Nunez is super fit. One of the hardest working players in the squad. His lack of athleticism may be a sticking point though.

He is one of the fittest players in the squad, his running numbers are off the charts. Doesn't have that raw athleticisim, but his fitness will be enough in that regard

| Summer squad revamp on 11:57 - May 12 with 1681 views | StockholmBlue | Very similar to my thoughts, but have a few different opinions: I am not sure Kipre will handle the PL, I think he is too slow, not good enough in the air, undecisive (takes long to make up his mind) and his passing is very hit and miss (sometimes brilliant and sometimes very poor). I would rather we find someone that can give DOS a fight for the shirt - but understand we might have other issues that are more important for the time. I would also put Taylor on the transferlist. Championship is his absolute ceiling. Can´t see him managing PL. This is such an important roll for the team. We need two new in this position. Taylor might be a cheap extra player in the position, but then I would probably rather keep Cajuste instead. Finally, I don´t think either Nunez nor Mehmeti has showed enough to think they will cut it in the PL. I would prefer if we keep one of them as cover and sell the other. We must find a new first choice number 10. Clarke or Philogene can also be an alternative in the 10 role depending on injuries. And if we let one of Nunez and Mehmeti go, we can maybe buy a left sides player with a bit more speed and physical attributes as an alternative to Clarke and Philogene. Perhaps also send Egeli out on loan. | |

He's not lost his pace, he seems to be getting better with age, looks like he has time on the ball, obviously a great pro to have in the building too, keep people grounded which is important.

Egeli has to stay for me. A full pre-season and keep him close to McKenna/training with a better calibre of player. At a critical stage of his development and a bad loan move is the last thing you want for him. He could be one that really flies next season and he doesn't count towards the squad limit either.
