David Beckham. He’s here, he’s there 04:21 - Jun 18 with 1608 viewsIllinoisblue

He’s in every fking TV ad. Over here currently appears in at least four different World Cup themed ads for Adidas, Stella, Bank of America, and Home Depot. Corporations must love his good looks and personality. Okay, his looks.

He’s a really strange bloke. Never seen anybody that loves a pound note as much as him.

A few years ago he decided to sell half his own image rights to an external company – and therefore now has third party pressure to basically whore himself to any brand that will pay. Hence he’s everywhere from headphones, to beer, to wellness to banking…

https://www.forbes.com/sites/m

Shortly after the above he then commissioned and directed a Netflix documentary about himself…then started crying in said documentary about the effect he worries his stardom may have had on his kids…

He and his wife are really really odd – as his eldest son has now attested to (who is also really strange but you would be with parents like that).

One of the breaks on ITV last night had him in two out of three adverts in a row, Walkers and Pepsi.

Is there anything he wouldn't sell? Maybe Anusol?... Miriam Margolyes already has that one nailed down, on the radio at least.

I don't think it's solely greed, I think he and his wife just live on another planet where they can't live without the oxygen of publicity - even if that means shoving their kids into the limelight whether they want it or not.

you're right, it's a combination of greed and narcissism. if it had occurred to him in time, his tattoos would all be of well paying corporate brands.

He’s getting paid a lot of money to be in adverts that probably don’t take long for him to film.

Fair pay to him.

Yeah fine but don't start crying that you're worried the effect your stardom has had a negative impact on your kids...

One of which doesn't even want to speak to him now.

There was an excellent piece on the Beckhams by Marina Hynde in the Gruniad a couple of days ago. Finished with:
“ did seem genuinely gobsmacking to learn a few months ago that the Beckhams had trademarked Harper Beckham’s name for a beauty enterprise. Yet following a number of media appearances by her mother in which Victoria started laying the backstory to it all, it has emerged that Harper is actually poised to launch a skincare brand. At 14 years old? Really? Genuinely no one wants to be uncharitable here. But what needs to happen to the Beckhams before they consider the wisdom of ploughing on with some of this stuff? How much money is enough – they are said to be worth almost £1.2bn – before taking your foot off the family branding pedal feels like a healthy thing for everyone involved? To contradict the viral DoorDash ad: it’s not complicated. Family is family, and there are better ways to live than selling it – or selling it out – all the time.“

Yeah they're nuts mate.

If rumours are to be believed they sent said daughter to their estranged son's house the other day with camera crew in tow, to capture the moment she was "heartbroken" when there was nobody home...and then distributed those photos to the press.

Never met him, have come across his wife a couple of times - "unpleasant" doesn't do her justice.

Also good looking.

Here is a cool story bro.

“ SVEN-GORAN ERIKSSON has revealed David Beckham recently spent the day with him at his Bjorkefors farm and brought along “six litres of wine” from dates which hold a special meaning to him.

Eriksson went public in January with his terminal cancer diagnosis and admitted the “best case” scenario was that he had a year to live.

During an interview with Radio Sweden’s P4 Varmland channel the 76-year-old reflected with great pride on the visit of former England captain Beckham to his farm outside Sunne.

Eriksson said: “He came with six litres of wine from dates that were important to me.

“He had wine from 1948 – the year I was born, very nice of him. He is genuine, he could have been a big diva, but he is quite the opposite.”

Beckham also had wine from 1982, the year Eriksson won the UEFA Cup with IFK Goteborg. And also brought a bottle from 2000, which was the season when he guided Lazio to the Serie A title.

Eriksson continued: “He ate herring and potatoes and elk meat. “The previous day he had sent a chef who fixed the food, and then he came and was here for a day. We sat chatting, a lot about football.”

Eriksson, who managed England for five years before leaving after the 2006 World Cup, stood down from his role as sporting director at Swedish club Karlstad last year.“

I think that shows the measure of the man.

Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened.

Sorry, what's the point of this?

You can still be a bit of an oddball and do nice things. Other than loosing me 5 mins of my life reading that I'm not sure what point you're trying to make is?

It would be like me posting what his son's comments were and saying - I think I've proved my point.

Nobody has said he's a really bad guy, I think what people (me included) are saying is that he has a strange outlook on life and in particular the role his kids play.

Also, sorry, but don't be so naive. There are plenty of people with less nice things to say that have been buttoned up by the Beckhams - which is why the PR and showbiz journos hate them. Plenty of open secrets out there that might not measure up to the pedestal you've put him on.

Somebody I know for example used to teach at his daughter's previous school. You may wish to have a little dig into why she had to change schools.

Didn’t he pay the $75,000 himself to have the star placed? Sure I read he asked Tom Cruise to nominate his name forward and then he paid for it?
How much money does one person need in all honesty? He couldn’t spend what he has in ten lifetimes. An odd couple, hopefully their other children don’t follow like their other one has
