I don't understand why it is acceptable for people to criticize, attack and take the p1ss out of vegans on this forum?
People turn to a vegan lifestyle because they don't believe animals should be exploited , they are compassionate, they care about the environment and for health reasons.
Being anti-vegan is the same as being racist, sexist, homophobic or antisemitic as far as I'm concerned
Vegans are such an easy target and it's always the same old jokes.
Murdering animals is absolutely hilarious isn't it

Look, if animals didn't want us to eat them, they wouldn't go around being made of meat, would they?

I believe humans do best when eating high quality animal products. I respect vegans but most of the mocking on here is light-hearted and in response to one poster's preaching.

I respect the quiet ones. The ones who've made their choice and quietly go about their business. See also: religious folks. Nothing wrong with following whichever god you choose. Just don't come knocking on my door to tell me about it.

Sheep and cattle are herbivores, and so we're eating processed grass. There you are, 100% vegan.

Plus vegans are one thing. Evangelical vegans who misrepresent stuff. Dodgy characters.

There's an insecurity that stems from the sense that veganism is an implied criticism of lifestyles that involve eating lots of meat. Understandably lots of people feel sensitive about the fact that the world is changing and their lifestyle is being judged, and often resort to a negative, defensive 'humour' to express this insecurity (like the Waitrose magazine editor).

We should all be aware of the need to reduce meat in diets, and support each other in doing so as much as we can, in a positive, inclusive way.

You might not be fully aware of this forum, and the greater world of football forums, but taking the micky is pretty common over many different subjects. I don't think many are truly anti-vegan in the sense of wanting to campaign against it, but it is a choice, your race, gender, sexuality is not a choice, in some cases religion isn't either.

I personally don't recall anyone saying murdering animals is hilarious either.

True to a point, although 'race' is not a scientifically meaningful concept these days. Which I suspect is a disappointment to tommy yaxley-robinson and other assorted contards.

I agree entirely, I don't identify anyone by their race any more, and I owe that to being privileged to live in a fantastically diverse country.

I get what you're saying, but there was a strange almost culty love for beards recently, and tattoos might not be fads in themselves, but they type of tattoos usually are. IE Tribal bands once upon a time, 3D effects more recently etc etc.

When you equate the 2018 struggles of British vegans with say the genocidal persecution of the Jewish people spanning roughly two millennia then people will potentially humour your chosen diet.

In that article I see reference to someone associating vegan diets to environmental health, when I don't think people realising how damaging the effects of making way for the amount of land needed to sustain the world population with arable farming would be.
