Jonathan Williams - have I missed something and he got badly injured or something? I remember him being pretty good on loan with us.

Perhaps 1 of Jack Rodwell, Darren Bent, Stephen Ireland, Charlie Adam, Gareth Barry, all have some miles in the legs but their experience could be a real asset.

No thanks to all of those.

Darren Bent has retired and he and Lambert hate each other anyway.

Re Jonny Williams, I suspect agents and wages are getting in the way of him finding a club. He must have been on a decent wack at Palace. Charlton has said they can't afford him, much as they'd like him.

I'd steer clear of all of the others personally. Barry would be the only one I'd want, and isn't he with WBA?

I think Charlton are working on re-signing him.

As for the rest of that list, no thanks.

We have enough sick notes sat in the medical room as it is without including Jonny Williams.

The likes of Rodwell, Barry, Adam etc are all going to be on tens of thousands of pounds a week.

Also, watch the Sunderland documentary on Netflix and see if you still want us to sign Rodwell after.

Ol Jonny Williams might be an option if Judge signs for QPR and the Bish is out for a while.

No.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Maybe we could get Freddy Adu whilst we are at it.

Jamie Cureton? He's still knocking goals in at 43.

Can't believe people wouldn't have Barry here. The others I agree, but I think Barry would still be decent.

However, will never happen for a variety of reasons.

I think there's about a 0% chance of it happening, and that's being generous, but he would be class in this league.

He'd be a step above this level even at his age but we've gone from being one the lowest payers in the Championship to having that cut a further what 60%, unless he really wants to play for us, he's not coming!!

He'll end up in the Champ. Probably at Charlton.

Even if we could tempt him, I dont think we could afford the injury risk.

No one said they wouldn't have him here, it's just so unlikely no one could be bothered to type out the obvious.

Ledt side centre half is where we have been weakest, arguably we have never replaced Berra or Tommy Smith.
Any free agents out there in that position?

Haha that makes me laugh. I have to read through the lines of people's post.

"As for the rest of that list, no thanks. " means I would want some of them but I can't be bothered to write it out even though it takes just as long as what I did actually write out haha

Yes, a collective no thanks rather than list individual reasons which are pretty obvious. Admittedly I could have written individual reasons in the time it has taken to explain this.

We need to sign players who do NOT have poor injury records. We can’t afford to carry Williams or Will Keane for that matter.

I was always of the belief that free agents would have got us out of the mess that hurst left behind. As Joe Royle always said you need ' battle hardened' players in the championship.if we had gone down that route we might still be in that league!
