Dozzell & Dobra 15:39 - Jan 7 with 2551 views | IPSWICHFANITFC | Read Stuart Watson's article earlier on trimming the squad etc... Dozzell and Dobra out of contract in the summer. Any options in their deals? Be a massive loss to lose those two, potentially lose the club millions of £ to see them move on without accepting new deals.

Dozzell & Dobra on 15:49 - Jan 7 with 2468 views | kizaitfc | Think Dozzell may move in Jan, think the club will offer a deal which he wont accept and they will then look to sell before losing him for free in the summer. Dobra, will sign a contract and go on loan towards end of Jan

Dozzell & Dobra on 15:53 - Jan 7 with 2462 views | PhilTWTD | Both current deals have options for a further season so effectively two-year deals. I know there were discussions about a new deal with Dozzell in the summer when there was the Norwich interest - although you get the impression things haven't progressed particularly, presumably his representatives are waiting and watching his progress here this season - and I'd be amazed if they hadn't opened talks with Dobra about a new contractalready.

Was that Norwich thing really kosher???

Dozzell & Dobra on 15:56 - Jan 7 with 2414 views | MrTown | Dozzell and Dobra both have an option for a further year I believe. Would be a massive loss to start losing young talents for free. We have hear Evans voice his dissatisfaction at young players leaving for minimal fees. He is is danger of losing two very talented footballers for even less. I thought the philosophy of this club was to start developing some of the best talent, as an almost make way for not being able to compete with transfer fees we were going to develop them oursleves. Well now the crop are starting to come through the need to centre thought for the club in the coming years.

Yes, I wouldn't have reported it if it wasn't! From what I gather the valuations weren't that close, we wanted £5m-ish, they saw it more in the £3m ballpark.

By the same token - very little point staying here and not playing though.

That is my point, should they not play, who could blame of them for wanting to, and eventually moving on.

Knowing our luck, we'll sell Jackson to The Posh and then watch him bang the goals in for fun! Just typical us unfortunately, we just seem to have this cloud looming over the club, where we aren't allowed any success. Perhaps it's just our turn?

I don't understand how Dozzell isn't a starter. Clearly a very technically gifted footballer with bags of potential, but it's always been said about his work off the ball which would come with more game time and getting a better understanding of what's expected from him off the ball. I thought he played well against Bristol Rovers and Lincoln - works really well with Downes too. Dobra is another I really like the look of. Personally think he's someone who gets bums off seats, and we haven't had that player contracted to the club for a long while (excluding recent loanees Fraser, Lawrence etc).

It really pains me to say this but if I was Dobra I'd be off, the way he has been pushed aside is disgusting imo for a player with his ability, absolutely he gets bums off seats, can do the unexpected, of course he's raw but this is the Third Division, how is he meant to progress without first team minutes...

I wonder if the red card at Accrington put him back in Lambert’s thoughts. Personally find it strange given that Edwards is the only fit winger, and he’s playing wing back recently. I’d like to see him as part of a front 3. I think him and Judge on the pitch together would give us higher tempo and movement in our play.

I can't believe Lambert would hold the Accrington incident against him, he should always have a place on our bench no question about it, defenders absolutely hate seeing pace come on from the bench, it's not as if we have pacy options really...though Sears is thankfully back now which is a plus in that respect..

I think people are getting a bit carried away based on a cameo in the noddy cup. When he has played for the first team - Lincoln in cup springs to mind - he hasn't offered much at all. He obviously has some ability, but I think he is a way from being able to demand football just yet. And on Dozzell, if we're honest, he has very much flattered to deceive so far. He clearly has one of the best passing abilities in the squad, but we look a less good team when he plays. [Post edited 7 Jan 2020 18:29]

No doubt you're going to get inconsistency with young players, for that I can see why he wouldn't start, but for me pace and ability alone would get him on the pitch because he is capable of doing something, beating a man and making something happen.. We'll see, very surprised he didn't get time against Exeter I must say.

You see the raw natural talent and the football brain and you imagine great things. Perhaps they'll come; perhaps they won't. Although it's unusual to pick out an obviously natural footballer who subsequently doesn't rise to some worthwhile height because of other deficiencies, it's not unique. Darren Currie possessed ball-skills that some Premier players could only stand and admire.

I would agree that it would nice to see the odd appearance from the bench as something different, and he should very definitely have seen some action against Exeter.

You say that but I thought he was one of the best players on the pitch away at Luton. Both teams fielded strong teams that night too. If there is one negative I have about Dobra, he sells himself and is a bit reckless when trying to defend or make a challenge. Yellow card waiting to happen, discipline isn’t quite there but the talent is good enough for L1

If we value him at £5m, surely we also think he is good enough got our first team. We must be the only L1 team who has a £5m player on the bench.

Are you Andre in disguise? You thought he played well versus.Bristol Lincoln and Luton ( see later post in this thread) , he is weak defensively , I don't think he stood out especially positively , flatters to deceive and the key thing fir me is we lost all 3 games .
