Who was at PR fir this game?

Remember it well. A few of us ran on the pitch when the winner went in. You get a three year ban now.

That was the day I really believed we could go up. Newcastle had just appointed Keegan so there was a lot of hype surrounding them.

Man alive, I remember that. Came away convinced Steve Palmer was the new Johan Cruyff. He had an outstanding match.

Yes, North Stand. One of my favourite matches. Look at the speed of Palmer's break away

I was there, I arrived late and couldn’t find a parking space. There was a traffic warden booking people parked up behind the Fisons building, and I asked where I could park. Her response was I don’t care but I’ll book you if you park there. How much is the fine I asked. She told me so I said go ahead and parked up leaving her speechless. Satisfying if expensive. Ended up watching in Chruchmans as I didn’t have time to walk around to the North

I remember a 5-4 win, I was with my Ipswich supporting cousin and it was just before I moved to Silly Suffolk.

“Hello, I'm your MP. Actually I'm not. I'm your candidate. Gosh.” Boris Johnson canvassing in Henley, 2005.

Yes, I remember the 5-4 but I just checked the details.

It was 15th March 1975 and out scorers Hamilton 3, Johnson and Hunter.

I seem to remember it being particularly muddy but back then most games were played on mud.

Our team was Sivell, Burley, Mills, Talbot, Hunter, Beattie, Hamilton, Viljoen, Johnson, Whymark and Lambert.

Yep was there. Was with a Glaswegian work colleague who went on to become Director of Communications for the Scottish Catholic Church then a kinky underwear company...

Gavin Peacock always seemed to score against us, did with QPR and Chelsea didn't he?

Are you implying the Church was a kinky underwear company? Wouldn't surprise me.

I was there. It was a smashing game and we were playing with such confidence that despite going behind, I always felt we would win. Newcastle had been struggling a bit the league, but were already showing a bit of confidence under Keegan so it was a good win.

It was brilliant. Sunny April day, packed North Stand. Cracking game. Peacock for them was superb. Lads in the West Stand doing their thing. Superb

Certainly in the top five of my personal highlights that season, along with Oxford, Southend, Anfield and the Blackburn home game.

Yep. Fantastic game. I remember John Lyall being interviewed afterwards being asked, "You're surely up now?" (or words to that effect) and he laughed and replied, "We're nearer than most."

I bet Bloots will downarrow this.

I was at university in Sunderland so for me this was an opportunity to listen to commentary courtesy of crackly local radio. Then highlights on local TV. A rare treat pre-internet.

5th win in a row with 5 games left. We were just about there. 3 days later we played at Sunderland, I've a vague recollection that had we won that night we could only miss out on promotion via goal difference. Stuffed 3-0 though and the wettest I've ever been at a football match. That game would be abandoned nowadays.

I think it was that game, along with Bristol City away before it, and Grimsby at home after, where promotion (or possibly the title) could have been confirmed.

What a pass that was from Whitton to play Palmer in, like threading an eye of a needle.

Cracking game. Was in the West Stand that game.
Also remember the 5-4 game Lucan alludes to. That was a good un.

I’ve tried to forget the Bristol and Grimsby games, but at the time I think everyone knew we were going to get up by then. Standouts for me were the Anfield game, Portsmouth at home, Newcastle at home, Blackburn home, Watford away with Whittons winner, not least because we were in the corner and could only see three quarters of the pitch. The last game of the season against Brighton was a joy and a sort of reward for a great season.

Yes, I was there as always in those days. Really good match.

Just occasionally in a match that we won I thought the MoM was on the losing side. In this case Gavin Peacock.

Once we comfortably beat Birmingham City but we all agreed that the MoM was Trevor Francis. Another time we beat Charlton in the Cup but Paul Walsh was MoM.

Came down from Chorley in Lancashire for weekend for that game with friend. Pulled a lass from the nightclub there and took her back to the Novotel hotel. So good weekend in all.

I was at that game! - It was incredible to watch, a proper thriller where it could have gone either way but I always thought that we could win ANY game then.

The game which made all Town fans believe we were going up.

Keegan had just arrived at Newcastle and they were in a relegation battle. God knows how as they had excellent players. Peacock was class. They stormed the league the following season.

KK and AC made them an eye catching and exciting team to watch. During the 90s, I bet they were many people's second favourite team. I certainly enjoyed watching them play.
