Can you imagine the soundbites from the players: "Looks fantastic" "Proud to wear this kit" "I love the design"

Ooooooh you massive cynic! Dare Hambo to ask what the release clause is for his first Zoom question to Lambo.

I hope so. I also wonder if the fanfare is not just because it's genuinely good news, but also to take the glare off Downes going later this month. Would be nice to think we only need one quality CB in now to deputise for Chambers.

Here to stay my arse. (Quite right we should look to secure a higher fee when he goes though).

Maybe. In many ways we did well not to lose any of the younger players last Summer so it is very likely that Downes will go now. The only thing that might change that is the weird end to the season but £1.5m down now + all sorts of installments is small change for Premier league clubs.

If West Ham come down it'll be there he'll head surely? You'd assume he'd be exactly what they'd want in that scenario and allow them to sell off expensive players not suited to their needs easily. I wonder where Nsiala goes after this summer too.

New contract for Woolfenden? on 11:11 - Jul 1 with 1352 views | Herbivore | Good news. I do think Woolfie needs another season at this level. He was more hit and miss than Downes, some great performances and the odd garbage one and a few in between. During our poor run he looked to be struggling a bit. Understandable as it's his first season at this level and first season playing regularly for Town. After another season here he'll be much better for it and 4eady to step up either with us or someone else. Downes on the other hand was pretty consistent last season and looks further ahead in his development and I'd be amazed if he's still here next season. [Post edited 1 Jul 2020 11:19]

'I wonder where Nsiala goes after this summer too.' Hopefully as far away from this football club as possible.

I was told one of the clubs looking at him was undecided on him as they've not seen him playing in a back four which is how they'd want to play him if they saw him.

One benefit of PL's incoherence then.... Yes, that does make sense. Although the period playing with a back four was the better part of the season it didn't last very long. Also worth noting that there is a big difference between the experience of Downes and that of LW, the former also has a good number of games at Championship level. I think some fans forget that.

Was before Woolfenden's name started to become more prominent as well. Re Downes, have had people suggest to me that at least some of the apparently interested parties don't think he does enough yet to move to the sort of clubs which would be able to afford the level of fee we'd want.

I’m not surprised by the observations about Downes. He doesn’t score enough or create enough at the moment to be anything above Championship level imo.
