If you want to include a natural disaster then a Carrington style event is much more likely. In fact the probability of it happening in the next decade is around 2% to 12% depending on the modelling but still orders of magnitude higher than an asteroid.

Everyone knows about the dangers of asteroids but it seems fewer people take this threat seriously even though it's far more likely to happen.

Ah but you see in a world where the pig, bat, pangolin, are in a race to see who can mutate a virus first which will wipe us all out, I am anticipating a Virus Race.
