OK then TWTD I have the chance to vote for our next PM on 17:19 - Aug 11 with 2284 views | CBBlue | I voted Ed, he seems to have lots of experience in politics and life. I like Layla but don't think she's necessarily leader material just yet. Then again previously I voted Jo and thought she was going to do great things but she ended up a bit out of her depth so what do I know.

OK then TWTD I have the chance to vote for our next PM on 17:34 - Aug 11 with 2254 views | Plums | Still unsure. Layla engaged me far more during the zoom call but Ed has some really good credentials and the more he spoke the more I warmed to him. Whoever wins, the party needs to get away from personality based politics. The strength is in local activity and making the connection that good work locally can be delivered centrally.

OK then TWTD I have the chance to vote for our next PM on 17:41 - Aug 11 with 2233 views | tractordownsouth | Normally I'd want the more leftwing Lib Dem to win, which would be Layla Moran, but I think Ed Davey is better for the Lib Dems target constituencies. Layla's pitch of being untainted by the coalition years isn't too important as 18 of their top 20 seats are Tory held, so they will need to win over people who likely voted for the coalition. Davey had a pretty poor voting record in those years but seems to have moved leftwards and did some good stuff as energy secretary. They're both pretty poor choices compared to Ashdown and Kennedy but will be an upgrade on Swinson, who has to go down as the worst LD leader in history.

OK then TWTD I have the chance to vote for our next PM on 18:32 - Aug 11 with 2178 views | bluelagos | Ed Davey was my MP when he got in bed with the tories. He voted for tuition fees despite pledging not too. I wrote to him over the issue and didnt even get a reply. I wouldnt even consider voting for a party whose leader is a dishonest liar. So Layla for me.

Labour, Green, SNP, Plaid. Though only 2 stand in Suffolk. Ed Davey was part of the coalition and I wouldnt even consider voting Liberals with him at the helm. You vote but you do need to consider the baggage he brings with him.

I have long maintained that Boris is the Paul Lambert of politics. Patently incompetent, seeking to shift the blame and more interested in his own PR than his job. And still inexplicably popular with a lot of people.

I'll give you Labour at the moment, just. Green & Plaid haven't been with out their issues over the years and there is a book to written on the SNP!! The coalition was needed at the time and they had to make some tough choices. They didn't get them all right but A lot more people were left better of after the hike in the Income Tax personal allowance which was a Lid Dem policy which seems to get conveniently ignored. For me the massive failing of being in the coalition wasn't getting a PR voting deal through.

I agree completely. The inability to get the PR message across was a massive failure.

Why was a coallition needed? The libs could have supported the tories (as biggest party) on a vote by vote basis. But they choose to go into power with them. And in so doing voted for tutition fee hikes to 9k. As well as voting through austerity measures like the bedroom tax. You can try and sugar coat it Keno. Some of us have long memories.

Clegg is / was a Tory at heart. Also, it was his one chance to be in some sort of power... Deputy PM! He was always going to go for the coalition.
