Fair play to him, that's the biggest con someone in football pulled since Paul Lambert convinced Marcus Evans he was worth a 5 year contract.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

I think there's something over the last couple of years that's been going on with the market for English goalkeepers, plenty appear to have made the move to clubs that appear to be out of reach of their ability.

Richard Wright - Man City
David Martin - West Ham
Lee Grant - Manchester United
Scott Carson - Manchester City
Rob Green - Chelsea

It's got to be something to do with having enough experience in reserve but also keeping them as a home grown player in your squad list?

I think we've missed a trick here. We should be offering them Alan Judge for £15M.

Isn’t virtually the entire Burnley squad English anyway? Might be the case with the others you listed but not sure about this one.

Seems strange, but he’s probably just going there to be 3rd choice

My hobbies include being quiet during trips, clapping with songs, and diabetes.

Also Andy Lonergan at Liverpool.

Chris Wood was coming back from serious injury here and not fully fit. Norris just isn't a very good keeper.

Wood was unfit when he was here, no doubting he was a top Championship striker though.

Dyche loves a strange 3rd choice keeper as well. Signed Adam Legzdins from Birmingham and never played in the 3 years he's been there.

Just keepers to pick the ball out of the net whilst a club do specific drills with their proper keepers.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

Alternately, Norris is a promising young keeper who has all the basics but made a series of horrible errors in a few weeks last season. His career ceiling is far higher than Tomas Holy's for example.

Is he good enough for Burnley? Maybe not but Alex McCarthy's spell here was similar to Norris's and he's done ok.

He's not that young, he's 27 and Holy is 28.

McCarthy's another one, can't understand the hype.

The idea that Southampton would rather him than Fraser Forster is lol-worthy.

He is a decent keeper. Yes, he made a couple of howlers which people will remember, but that doesn't make him a poor keeper.

I think if you're a keeper and you make several (more than a couple) errors that directly lead to goals, it kind of does mean you're a poor keeper. Perhaps that wasn't representative of his ability and will go on to do well, but based on what we saw here he's really not very good. He's going to Burnley to pick up a decent wage and be tjrod choice, that's probably about the best he can hope for if playing regularly isn't a big consideration for him.

Bart had a dreadful 2018-19 here, yet recovered in a fresh environment. I think form applies as much to keepers as outfield players. I'm not suggesting Norris is great but I don't think he's as bad as popular opinion makes out.

I thought he was 24 when we signed him, must have been 25 given he only just turned 27.

I can only judge him on his performances here and he directly cost us several goals and generally looked shaky. There were some good saves at times too but none of the kind of worldies that someone like Bart used to pull out. I admit I probably view him more negatively because him being rotated in coincided with our poor run and continually dropping Holy - who is our own keeper - for no obvious reason in order to play an error-prone loanee was rather symptomatic of Lambert's confused thinking. Based on what we saw here though I'd be surprised to see him getting regular game time in the Championship let alone the Prem.
