The Court Patisserie in Bury used to do them only on a Wednesday and I put in a regular order.

One of my nicest memories of Ipswich 1972-74 was venturing into some bakery or other in the middle of town, buying a slab of hot bread that was absolutely laden with spices, a hint of lemon, and raisins, & guzzling the whole lot down while walking along the street. The sheer scent of it as you approached the shop was delectable in itself!
Can't remember name of bread/cake,shop or street. Shop was on the r-hand side as you walked along with docks on your left, of quite a narrow street just to the left of the high street (?) in middle of town. Ah, TWTD! :) |  |
