...is any good?

I must say I'm a bit confused by the transfer policy so far. Personally I'm all for dipping into the lower leagues for a gem a la Vardy or Ian Wright or Tyrone Mings...but signing youngsters from Needham and Kings Lynn doesn't feel like the ambitious Harlem Globetrotters of League One signings most seem to be expecting.

We let people like Nydam and Dozzell go, and get in similar aged players from lower down the pyramid. I thought the idea was we signed finished articles, robust and experienced enough to carry us out of this division and good enough to be the building blocks of decent championship side.

Not seeing that so far.

Oh Jesus, here we go again Debbie Downer.

If this was our only signing of the summer you might have a point.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

No harm whatsoever in looking for a rough diamond amongst the transfer targets.

Shouldnt judge our whole policy based on one link.

To be fair, it worked out well with Mings and Moore.

That is positive. Debate is positive. Criticism is postive. Blanket, sheep like agreement without forethought or individual reasoning is negative.

Like I said, I'm all for it. It bodes well for the future if they come good.

What I'm saying is, that it does not seem to reflect the immediacy and potency of the kind of transfer targets we have been told to expect. That's all.

I'm glad we're getting young talent in.

But it's the players that will get us out of this godforsaken division we need to sign.

It's beyond tiresome to see your daily moaning post. Continually denying it whilst carrying on doing it is a pretty poor look.

Apart from that the post itself is pretty poor, we need a squad and people for the future as well as new first team players.

If we are after the Kings Lynn lad it will be a club signing rather than a Paul Cook one - someone Dyer fancies for the 23s who can hopefully push on quickly into the first team.

But these sort of signings should barely even be mentioned in dispatches, they are of no relevance really and not something to worry about. Look how many signings upwardly mobile clubs make for their reserves etc that are not even a footnote.....if 1 in 5 pays off then you are doing brilliantly

I'm glad that people who have seen the Kings Lynn lad play think he's promising. That was the heart of my question.

I'm sorry if you think me drawing attention to something I see as at odds with an aforementioned strategy upsets you.

When I see something I think is good for the club I applaud it. I think Paul Cook has the potential to do great here. I have said that numerous times. What I struggle with is that for some reason criticism of the current regime in any way, shape or form is seem as toxic and jumped on by the loud majority. That's a pretty poor look in my opinion.

There's definitely players in the lower league with huge growth potential - you only have to look at Mings and Vardy (but they are more rare to go that high).

In this league Norwood was playing non-league not very long ago, as was Matty Taylor at Oxford (ironically, Norwood used to keep Taylor out of the Forest Green squad), so it is possible to get some decent players from that level.

Worth a punt i guess, but unlikely he'll ever become an established first team player.

I share you're frustations to some degree. I can only think that we are letting players go and then replacing them, as doing it the other way round is not financially viable.

I would imagine that all Premier League players started playing with their local village/small town/ youth club team, it's how the system works.....

Which we will do. Taking a punt on a non-league youngster doesn't prevent us from signing the other targets you allude to.

Nope yesterday I supported Cook's right to go out and have a good time at the chinese with his staff, when others were knocking them.

And I posted about Chinese salt and pepper chips.

I made a joke about Rekeem Harper having retired before the deal went through.

I just said I'm happy we are signing younger players from non league if they have potential.

Presumably we watched Baggott’s games for Kings Lynn and this lad caught the eye of our scout which Might possibly have been Dyer.

I think this has been going on a while, Baggott didn't end up playing that much as KL just put out scratch sides at times so may not have played together.

But we should be watching everyone all the time, and £100k is buggar all in the grand scheme of things so hopefully he is decent and we get him

Given their money problems this year I was quite surprised to see that KL are going fully professional playing staff this coming season, and are losing some players unable to commit on a full time basis.
