... but lets just say in an ideal world we managed to sign Walton and Bonne permanently, the spine to our side for the next few years is not only ridiculous for this level, but would be up there in the Championship as well.

Walton
Edmundson
Morsy
Bonne

If we can keep those 4 fit and in the side, then they're a very solid 4 to build around.

Celina too, which is certainly the plan if we go up. Again, this is all why it's so critical we do it this year — sure we'd live if we didn't, but it's *such* a big opportunity to start something special if we can make the next six months go to plan.

Walton seems to have been around for years, but is still just 25 years old. That would be a deal I think that could be done.

Bonne I think could be difficult, his price is going up every week.

I think the Bonne deal could be done.

Champ clubs will have reservations about his potency at that level. Did well for Charlton but not so well for QPR.

I think the hype is primarily Ipswich based, and not so heated outside our bubble.

He'll cost a few quid, but I think a deal can be done.

The squad churn in this league is frightening. That’s why this fear of ambition is so crazy. Go up and we keep this squad together, don’t and it’s all change again.

I think it can be done, but I have a feeling QPR will over price him at the moment, but I don't think Ashton will overpay, which I have no problem with and that is what he is there for, but that is why I think it could be more difficult.

If they over price him, then he'll stay on loan and we can re-visit at the end of the season.

Walton is out of contract in the summer, and being 26 in a few days shouldn't require any compo.

But like Celina, we need to go up to get him - it's why this year is so unbelievably important, and why we can't just live off a few good wins, we need to be relentless.

The Plynouth game was the first away game we fell behind in that we looked like we would get back into - the others we'd lost had just drifted away from us. Last nights result was so important with a 10 day gap coming up

I personally think Burns more than holds his own in the championship too.

If we were to go up, maybe another striker and a CB, we’d be fine

Certainly has league one accounts tweeting about him every time he scores so I’m not so sure. He’d want to stay you assume but he will also have every right to take a championship deal next season.

Champ clubs are already sniffing

Bonne is a 26 year old striker who hasn't cut it really in the Championship - I think it is a relatively easy deal to get done all things considered and that we will do it regardless of whether we go up or not

Are you suggesting 26 (only just by the way) is old for a striker?

Prime age surely?

Prime age for an established Championship striker.

Not prime age for taking a gamble on a largely unproven championship striker.

I think it's old for a club to try and get a fee for one who hasn't proven something in the 2nd tier.

If he was 20-21 he'd be worth £5m, at 26 there's no real resale value in him so QPR either take what they can get now or try and find a use for him

I really don’t believe that to be the case.

If we were top 10 points clear I might agree, but sitting 5/6th and the risk it might be another League 1 campaign for him, just won’t cut it to have him sign full time

Agreed.

As long as we are in the mix at the upper end of the table (hopefully), I think a deal can be done.

Any champ interest is likely to be lower end clubs, and we have proven in signing Chaplin, Edmondson, Morsy etc that we can compete with those clubs in the transfer market.

Exactly. Coming away from last night's game I was buzzing but also thinking that, with these players, it'd be such a massive shame if this season went to waste. We still have a big opportunity to do it, that much is becoming clear.

We have proven numerous times this season that we can compete (and win the signature) with Championship clubs in the transfer market.

If we continue our current form, I suspect that Bonne would be willing to take that 'risk'.

If he joined a lower end Champ club he would also have the risk of playing in L1 next season.

Oh I hear what you are saying, and I’m sure we could offer a very healthy package…

However, it will also come down to if the man himself has ambitious to play as high as he can for as long as he can.

None of us are Bonne but it feels like right player, right club, right fit, right time — I'm sure it does for him too, given his allegiance, and there's a lot to be said for that. Sometimes things all come together for a player in a way that they won't elsewhere.

Really? You don’t think that if he finishes this season with 20 - 25 goals then lower or midtable championship clubs won’t be sniffing around?
