MK game just got absolutely massive, didn't it? 13:15 - Feb 9 with 1754 viewsitfc_bucks

Win there, lay down a marker and hopefully carry a huge amount of momentum into the run-in.

Lose and it's another season of League One dross, tinpot grounds and trips to sh*t provincial outposts.

Yep, especially with the context of our 3 games after MK, seeing out the rest of Feb. If we win on Saturday I think the league table might be looking very interesting heading in to March.

I wouldn't say loss = season over, but it certainly would be a big set back. We need to get ourselves into that 50 point club asap.

If we win there it will give us and the players huge belief. We are both currently the form sides in L1 along with Rotherham, but we need to be beating these top 6 sides more regularly than we have been doing. We certainly need to be more clinical than we have been in-front of goal too as the MKDons won’t give us copious amount of chances on Saturday. One thing is for sure, whatever the outcome it will be a good footballing match to watch with both teams keeping the ball on the grass.

I actually think their footballing philosophy will suit us and give us a bit more space to play.

Travesty that a good, positive minded young management team have to ply their trade in that soulless bowl in front of a home crowd of 6 blokes and the occasional lost shopper.

I don’t think it’s quite season over with a loss. However a win or even a draw and it’s hello momentum, we’ve half a chance of nudging into the mix!

MK Dons are going well, so may be uncatchable and therefore this isn’t a true 6 pointer. It’d certainly set us up well though.

I’m liking McKenna’s focus just on the next game. ‘One game at a time’ is probably the biggest cliche out there, but it’s the best way to go about things.

fair point - a draw probably suits both parties.

But, God, what a win would do for us!

2-0 away win. Chaplin and Woolfenden the scorers.

I think 2-0… like a Brighton away under MM, or the Watford win.
A massive statement win vs a very good team in this league.

I don't think it's crucial we win, we can afford to lose a few and still make 6th place. We are after 6th, not 3rd, in the first instance.

But if we were to win at MK and back that up with 2 home wins against Burton and Cheltenham, I think we'd be nailed on for a PO spot. We'd probably even be in one by the end of Feb. 2 months ahead of schedule!

A Wolfie headed goal will remind me of the Whelan goal at Southend in our title winning side way back in 91!

momentum is starting to roll with us!

Worth saying though that after us, MK Dons have two away games at Sunderland and Charlton. Obviously the league is very up and down, but easy to see them dropping a few points out of those two.

Oxford vs Bolton and Lincoln vs Wycombe could be interesting this weekend as well.

1st time I'm not going to MKD away and gutted now given the following we are taking but also glad that I donr have to put myself through it, big game in the context of both clubs seasons.

Not the end of the world if we lose but will do so much for our momentum if we win as well as put the wind up the current top 6.

Its all got quite bunched up and a good run between now and of season might just get us there

Not particularly. I'd quite happily take a point there. It's the 3 games after that that are massive. Win those and we'll be on the precipice of the play-offs.

Would be nice to see that we can get that 3rd win in a row and actually put a bit of worry in those above us. At the moment they may feel similar to some that we will ok against those lower but maybe not against those around or higher. So we need that statement win followed by another. That's if playoffs is your desire this season.

In traditional Ipswich fashion, we’ll rock up, play badly, give away two cheap goals and hear the 6 MK fans singing 2-0 on your big day out..
