Whilst they offload their increased cost of living to the tax payer.

Absolute brain drain.

My own solution is to work more hours, but screw her for saying that's what everyone should do. What if you *can't* get more hours? Everything they say proves their unsuitability for government more.

Her answer to people not having enough money is to tell them to get more money.

Genius.

Why don't they just get consultancy jobs with the Big Four or BAE Systems? Problem solved.

Exactly.

Should have been applied to companies and employees during the pandemic too rather than bailing them out with furlough money. Just breeds a scrounging culture.

It's like ministers are taking it in turns to turn our attention away from something else.

When the music stops the one who went last will be sacrificed for all of the Tory sins and it will just go on.

Which something else though? There are so many to choose from!

But even if criminality, bigotry, incompetence and corruption can be ignored or excused away by Joe Public, the cost of living won't be. Only when people's wallets are feeling the pinch will they take notice, sadly.

To be fair to the Tories, I actually have some sympathy for them this time around.

I mean they get a job. They barely turn up. They fail to understand the basics of what they are supposed to be doing and in most cases are absolutely horrific at what they do.

But they are then rewarded with frequent money making opportunities on the side, cash being thrown at them just for doing favours, big fat pay rises even though they can't do their job and, in the case of many of the Boris loyalists, they can get given a brand new job on even more money.

So if these completely arrogant, useless, f-wits can continually be promoted and over promoted and have more and more money chucked at them, it's not surprising the out of touch, condescending scum think the rest of us all have such opportunities aplenty.

Until the country actually figures out they say/do these things because we are toothless obedient bootlickers and we all go on national strike/stop footing the bills we might change the utterly f**ked power dynamics in the UK.

Until then, Collective change at an individual level is needed.

By then it'll be too late.

I see Priti Patel is today attempting to give herself greater power over the Police, so horrible measures previously considered as a last resort can now be her first resort.

WHEN I CHEERED THE POLICING BILL I WAS HAPPY BECAUSE IT WAS AIMED AT PROTESTERS I DIDN’T LIKE. I DIDN’T REALISE WHEN I WANTED TO PROTEST SOMETHING IT WOULD ALSO AFFECT ME.

Britain seems to have a weird culture of downward jealousy - where those who struggle to walk the tightrope should have the safety net removed because they believe that safety net will never be something they (or people they know) could also need it one day. Most of us are a few months and bad/unlucky external circumstances away from losing everything, yet want to pretend they have more in common with a handful of wealthy folks who’ve never done an honest day’s work in their life and would put a bullet between your eyes for the fiver in your back pocket.

When AI takes over humans won’t be able to earn money. Already we see tech advances that reduce staff costs (self checkouts, pay at pump machines) is putting that saved cash in the pockets of corporations, with none of it going to an improved wage for the staff they can’t sack yet.

Sounds like pretty good advice, & is what previous generations had to do in recessions, etc. A lot of us sat at home doing nothing & got paid recently, now it's time to get the head down & actually work hard. See nothing wrong with this whatsoever.

Can I ask some questions to elaborate on please?

How many jobs and/or hours did you work during previous recessions?
Which recessions were they date wise?

I’d like to also politely point out it’s almost certain any past experience in line with the cost of living/housing/fuel was considerably less harsh than it is right now. Social mobility is poor in Britain compared to the EU, and has been on decline long before COVID came along during Tory rule and made it worse.

"Previous generations".

You can not remotely compare the cost of living of the past with today.

Or for that matter the social environment.

Housing, childcare, nature of employment.

It's insulting to even try to be honest, not to mention ridiculously simplistic.
