Is this normal ,NHS people? on 16:55 - Jul 26 with 1849 views | Churchman | I’m really sorry to hear that Ullaa. I think you’ve done all you can. It sounds awful for her, but she is there and will be seen. Talk about the NHS being broken - grrr. Some 20 years ago now, my dad put a bit of sharp tree stump right through his forearm just above the bone. Lifted the flesh right off it. My sister took him to the nearest hospital Whipps Cross (she was living in Leytonstone then) and I met him in A&E. his arm was wrapped in a couple of bloodied towels and while it didn’t hurt much it looked a real mess. They had a 1, 2, 3 priority system and he was graded low priority. The place was like a war zone. I tried to speak to people, tried to get them to take another look, made a bit of a fuss but got absolutely nowhere. Maybe I did it wrong. The lesson for me was that if it’s not life threatening, go with it as best you can, despite the pain. If others hold a different view, they may well be right. As a postscript my dad was seen after a five hour wait quietly but slowly dripping on the floor. The doctor blurted ‘I can’t deal with that!’, the nurse elbowed him out of the way and dealt with it brilliantly. About 60 stitches, bits of wood removed, cleaned, bandaged and he was as right as a trivet within a few weeks. There are some marvellously skilled, dedicated people in the NHS. They deserve better than Johnson and his mugs and NHS England which is dreadful.

Oddly enough its Whipps Cross she's at now. 5 hours for your dad is too long in that state. Thanks to you and PointofBlue for the good wishes. I just can't believe that's where things are at with the NHS. On a tues afternoon as well — not even a Friday night or something. Thanks Tories. (Apologies again for this — I deleted the OP because it was a bit inappropriate for me to unload here like that) [Post edited 26 Jul 2022 17:11]

Perfectly appropriate. Best wishes to Mrs U. The tories are killing the NHS deliberately.

Dunno exactly what you said but wish you'd left it up really. Going by the gist of it I hope you/missus are ok. Write to your MP and let them know why you're angry. And do write, don't just consider it. Their (MPs) service isn't good enough and they need to be told.

Agree with that. About time a fire was lit under MPs. They need to understand they’re there for their constituents, not just themselves and their vaulting ambitions. Ullaa - you’ve every right to be angry.

+1 They can't then pretend they don't know the absolute state of the NHS at the moment - if people highlight the current issues. 5 hours for an ambulance + further 9 hours waiting for admission for my dad couple of weeks back. Disgusting that that's how OAPs are treated due to the inadequate provisions/funding/staffing. Hope your relative gets sorted asap

. on 19:03 - Jul 26 with 1475 views | Fixed_It | I saw your original post ullaa. To be fair, although it doesn't look great, a protruding bone with a broken collar bone is fairly routine. Sorry to hear that your wife had to wait so long. It isn't good enough obviously. But she won't have been considered an emergency. Hope she is sorted and on the mend soon. Our NHS is great - just understaffed (thanks Brexit) and underfunded (thanks successive Tory governments). [Post edited 26 Jul 2022 19:12]

Seriously though, a post like that is the norm on here isn’t it, so no need to feel silly. Should’ve left it up, someone like Badger could have offered a good insight.

You're all very kind - thanks loads. Mrs ullaa is OK but a bit uncomfortable. I think when I saw the bone jutting, I shat myself, but as fixed it says, this is actually normal in the scheme of things - find out today whether there's an opportunity needed or whether it's left to heal naturally. The 2nd option seems bizarre to me, but I know sod all obviously. No more ultra personal posts from me - feel like I've done way too much of that lately, so apologies (last one).

I really don't think it's an issue (posting about personal stuff). We all need somewhere to vent, and doing it to people you don't really know can be a good way of unburdening.

As others have said, you shouldn’t worry about posting “ultra personal” stuff. The forum is very good like that. Glad to hear things are better now.

Yeah, what Dan said. One of he great things about his board is that it is a place for the personal stuff when necessary as well as talking cheese, crisps and - occasionally - football. Hope all is ok now and Mrs Ulla is on the mend.
