I liked Elton John a lot back in the day. Early stuff right up to Yellow Brick Road which is still one of the best albums ever made, in my view. It was a bit downhill after that.
My sister saw him live in about 75 and reckoned he was absolutely brilliant live - in line with his reputation at the time. Sadly I never did.
Nice to see Davey Johnstone, one of the best guitarists ever, Ray Cooper legend on percussion and Nigel Olsson on drums.

Not a massive Elton fan it has to be said although when growing up it’s all my Dad (god bless him ) used to play so I know huge amount of this set so far and have to say he’s blown the other headliners out of the water so far |  |

I like Elton's music a lot but not enjoying this that much. His heart is definitely in it, his playing is lovely and some of the vocals are pretty good for a man of his age.
The bum notes and at times unintelligible lyrics are hard to listen to though. Completely understandable at this point in his career and still think he has outshone the other headliners, but for me it's just a shame that they left it this long to get him there when he has clearly seen better days. Same thoughts on McCartney last time really. | |
