And we appear to of missed out on the two central defenders mentioned on here is anyone wondering why?
What don’t they like about ITFC.

We might want perms. Parent clubs might want loans
Players might want big wages. We might not have it
They might want garenteed minutes. We might not want to give that assurance.

I don't think it is something we need to look too deeply at, sometimes there are just better offers for a variety of reasons that we can't compete with

One is going to Sheffield United, ie the premier league so an absolute no brainer.

We’ll be fine. There will be plenty on the list

Well Tusty gets PL football at Shef U so that's explains that.

As for LM maybe he's settled up North? Stoke is a lot closer to Burnley esp for a loan, no need to move etc.

Not really. The likely reasons are fairly plain.

ITFC does not want to/can't pay some of the inflated fees which have been bandied around.

ITFC, as newcomers to the Championship, do not have anything outstanding to offer which some of our more established rivals cannot also put on the table*.

ITFC is geographically a bit out on a limb, especially for players from the North. Perennial problem, this.

* We might think McKenna is exceptional, but he's young and still very inexperienced, with only L1 success on his CV.

In McNally's case, it may be that we're not in the north west, or it may be money.

In Trusty's case, it may well be that we're not in the Prem.

We can't (yet) change our division, we can't change our geography, and we wouldn't want to pay over the odds, or worse, breach FFP rules.

It seems that Coventry have also lost out on McNally, and (a) he's been there before so knows the place, (b) it's closer to the north west, if that's a factor, and (c) they surely have enough of the Gyokeres money left to be able to blow us out of the water.

These are good quality players. It's good to aim high. But we won't get everyone on our list, and we genuinely have no idea whether these were the only 2 CBs on our list that fitted our criteria, or whether they are 2 out of half a dozen. I think the latter is more likely. But let's see...

MA has said repeatedly, “I don’t care how good they are on the pitch, if I get then sense they won’t buy fully into the community or what we’re trying to do here, they won’t be signed”

We’ve a really good group of players, the best in years. I fully support the club in seeking the right players rather than getting them over the line just for the sake of a signing.

Besides, the club always seem to sign players not previously linked now, I think half the players we are connected with are just names leaked by the club to keep everyone guessing.

When you say ‘missed out’ - is there any evidence we actually made bids and were keen to get them in, but failed in competition with other interested clubs, or were they just potentials on our list that didn’t get as far as that in terms of making a bid?

Woahhhhhhh, calm down with these sorts of posts. Doesn't' fit the narrative very well.

However it's the same sh1t some fans have when we don't put "lesser" teams/clubs to the sword every minute we play them. There's another team on the pitch, just as there are other clubs signing players.

As has been said elsewhere, we have serious competition for players' sigs. The notion ITFC is the most attractive gig in town is naive and fanciful to put it mildly.

It's just a bump in the road. No point dwelling on it or making a big issue of it..
I think we've got enough about us to compete and stay in the division. If we're targetting players to improve the team, it won't be plain sailing. That's life.

The difference between this season and last is that this season is not 'promotion is imperative'. McKenna, Ashton and Gamechanger have bought themselves a very useful period of low pressure to continue the excellent, truly excellent job of rebuilding this club.

It's a great place to be in with the pressure off, the chance to impress and build at the right speed with the right types of signing whether that's this window, January, or before next season.

Not the most attractive gig in town? With respect to teams such as Ipswich Wanderers, they can't really compete.

I think that we need to not take it personally that a player chooses to sign for another club.

I know you’re just asking the question Bob but I feel that fans some of our fans are having a little sense of entitlement over signings not happening for one reason or another. It’s common in football. We’re not always going to get who we want when we want.

Ashton last week said we're down the line with a few players, you'd expect one of those to be a defender, neither Trusty or Mcnally sound like they would've been down the line, so like most of our transfers, a player will be announced that's not been mentioned before, hopefully in the next couple of days!

McNally was definitely someone they thought was well down the line.
