Omari - an apology 07:36 - Sep 20 with 3426 viewsitfc_bucks

I spent at least an hour at the Reading game slaughtering the lad. I may have called him a show pony. I may have suggested he has little end product. I may have even suggested he had poor work rate and didn't track back.

I'd like to apologise and acknowledge I'm absolutely wrong.

McKenna has found another gem and he looks to be a magnificent addition!

At the Reading game, you were probably completely right.
Since then, he's been McKenna'ed

Not digging at you, but there have been a few examples of fans making too quick judgements on players at the start of this season. Clarke was a liability a couple of weeks ago in some people's eyes too.

Lots of players take a while to settle in at the start of a new season, new signings or otherwise, and it's always a good idea to give it a month or two for things to settle down before making judgements.

Fwiw, Hutchinson has clearly needed that time on the training pitch with us and he looks a significant step up from those early performances.

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

No, I fully deserve it.

You can't give a full blooded "he knows exactly what we need" and then claim he's got it wrong, can you?!

No. And for a bonus point, before the game, I turned to junior bucks and told him I'm not convinced Wes is up to the standard we need either.

Frankly, you could sling me into this team and, after 6 months McKenna would turn me into a half competent player too.

He is, without a doubt, fffffkin magic!

Haha.

I'd definitely fancy myself to put in a solid 6/10 performance under McKenna.

Just to add, I'm not saying no criticism should be allowed at all. Taylor didn't have a great game last night for instance, but it was his first league start and he's clearly not quite on the same page as the team yet.

I'm confident Taylor will get up to speed as well after a rather underwhelming league start debut. He's a fine player and can't be reasonably or rationally judged on that performance, which wasn't great but far from terrible. Kept position well and knew our shape, just made some duff plays in possession. I suspect he was a little nervous and/or trying too hard. He'll be a vital member of this squad and team as the season progresses.

Thats 6 points he's won us already, over the season that could be crucial.

He's a very very good player, and will be too good for the Championship in a couple of years time.

Having seen Taylor come on in the last home game, he’s going to be a real asset to us. As you say, he just needs a little time and a run of games - which he is bound to get.

Not just this season. I remember certain posters saying they couldn't see the point of Hirst when he first came in.

Too much impatience in the modern day supporter.

Taylor was a bit poor last night but I certainly won't dig him out when it's his first start, coming into such a well functioning team, and a tricky away game at an ex-prem-last-season team.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

You do realise he IS a Chelsea player?

As if you'd suggest a player has no end product after one start and a about ten minutes off the bench ffs.

KMc’s interview, says how he had to hammer home the message of what is required of him.

He’s a smart lad for taking on the advice from his manager, because playing how he started he wasn’t going to be going anywhere fast. Really impressive with/without the ball now

Spoken like somebody who is sad, bitter and permanently miserable. Mind you, putting in an appearance after a win is a rare thing, so maybe the happy pills are having some sort of effect.

Yes, we do know Hutchinson is Chelsea’s player. But whether you like or loathe the loan system, and I loathe it, the system exists so we may as well utilise it to best advantage. Most other clubs do so why not us? Why not enjoy watching him while he’s here?

There’s lots to enjoy about this club at the moment. If you can’t enjoy it, fine. That’s your prerogative but why post on here? Isn’t WOTB or OTIB more your thing? You’ll find plenty of admirers there.

Weird that McKenna needed to make that point and it was one that I'd picked up on in his earlier appearances

I must be one of the few that thought Omari looked decent against Reading. Attacking wise he was a threat and 2 or 3 decent balls into the box, one of which led to a goal. I think since then though KM has really worked on him on the defensive side.

Nope. I liked what I saw at Reading too. You could clearly see he'd get better the longer he was with us.

If he can keep up this progress my fear is Chelsea want him back at Xmas as he can't be much worse than the XI they put out most weeks at the moment!
