Brighton the best stepping stone ..... 10:23 - May 27 with 2559 viewsBellevue_Blue

When I hear neutrals talk about Brighton as this great stepping stone/ 'can't fail' opportunity, I wonder if they're just reminiscing about the teams of 21/22 and 22/23.

I'm obviously biased as I desperately want him to stay but IMO Brighton as an opportunity is no different to that of Palace/ Fulham/ Brentford/ West Ham or even Everton.

Most (besides Everton) are well run and many of those teams have similar squads, saleable assets, similar budgets etc.

Brighton have won the 4th fewest points in the Premier League since the turn of the year and going into next year, have a few decent players supplemented by a load of youngsters who have proven very little so far.

They are on paper at least, direct competitors for relegation next season.

Maybe he disagrees and goes, maybe he stays but even if we were to get relegated with a fight, Kieran IMO would have every opportunity to get a job of a very similar ilk to Brighton next summer.

People's perception of Brighton get inflated by the philosophy behind the way that they are run. They are one poor management appointment away from relegation, like most of the clubs in the league.

Also I’m not sure from speaking to people down here that they actually want a manager who sees them as a stepping stone.

I don't think it helps when people like Stuart Watson come out and start talking about having a 'knot' in their stomach about the 'opportunity', as if it is this golden opportunity. He could have just as easily pitched our project as a massive opportunity too.

There is such a thing called 'last mover advantage'.

Thé key benefit is ghat they are run by a fan rather than venture capitalists so can carry their £450 million debt (for now)

That is a huge advantage over the likes of Ipswich

While you are dispensing your usual happiness, how come your lot didn’t turn up against Leeds? Just curious.

They are run by someone who has made their money from gambling, lets have it right.

The PL is a strange league these days with several mini-leagues within one.

The big 6 are safe from any thoughts of relegation, and at the present time I would add Newcastle, Villa, West Ham and Everton to that. Which leaves half of the league hoping not to be in the relegation mix.

Brentford, Brighton, Bournemouth, Wolves, Palace and Fulham have done well for a couple of seasons but things can change quickly. A poor start to the season, the sale of a couple of keys players, loss of form / injury and any one of those teams could be looking at a relegation battle next season.

Ourselves, Leicester, Soton and Forest will be most peoples favourites for the bottom 4 places but who knows?

Brighton at present look a safer bet that us for staying in the PL next season - but 10 games into the season that could be very different!

KM could go to Brighton and they could get relegated while we stay up.

“ KM could go to Brighton and they could get relegated while we stay up.”

No “could” about it, that is what will happen. Kieran is carried by the club.

Whether we like it or not, Brighton are where we want to be in 3 or 4 seasons time

I do think they will do well to kick on from the Europa League stuff frankly though, that's about their shelf and De Zerbi would be a massive act to follow

He has a free hit with Ipswich next season, he has to get it right with Brighton and get them finishing 10th plus

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

Not sure why you'd include Everton in that and not Brighton

Brighton have finished ahead of Everton for the past 3 seasons. And with more financial woes looming I'm sure Everton is no where near as attractive a prospect for any up and coming manager

I'd definitely expect Brighton to be ahead of Everton again next season. Yes, their form after Xmas was rubbish but there was noise about De Zerbi going from Jan onwards and I'd imagine that will have been a factor

How the heck can we be £450m in debt since Gamechanger came in? We’d have blown FFP out of the water.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

The debt referred to is Brighton's debt, not ours

I think you bias is clouding your opion here.

If you think the two squads of players are in direct competion of relegation, then have a rethink.

It pains me to say, being a live long time Town fan, but living in Brighton, I'm struggling to see, one of out players getting in their first team

I enjoy your interjections. Been keeping your powder dry since May 4th? It’s got a little moist again.
