And finish 13th or 14th.

But if we are down there, that's a very favorable last 4 games potentially to try and stay up, assuming Everton are still a similar sort of side.

Everton (A), Brentford (H), Leicester (A), West Ham (H).

Everton under Dyche are a tough proposition - as Liverpool found out in their derby. They would have finished comfortably mid table were it not for points deductions.

Plus West Ham have been pretty good the last couple of seasons.

I think we have to view it, as get whatever we can from the top 5/6 clubs, but our own mini league is any club from mid mid table down. We certainly have to brace ourselves for that defeat feeling which we haven’t had much of for the last two seasons. But not to panic if we don’t get many points of the board early doors. We’ll come good, and once again , likely to surprise a few.

Re everton - very hit and miss from what i saw of them, as we know anything can happen derby day but 9 out of 10 I'd expect liverpool to win that derby

Re west ham, good side but will they be as strong under lopetegui, pre moyes they were battling relegation so who knows how they'll get on prob mid table

I hope you are right, however, i am under no illusion that we really won't know until we start playing at this level.

I suspect we will surprise a few, get caught out in a few games and probably get hammered in some. I am hoping we maintain our free-scoring play but let's see. The type of football that we play is both a blessing and a potential hindrance, scoring is great but leaking goals at the back is dangerous at this level.

Hopefully Leicester will already be down by that game, demoralised and already 'on the beach' as the cliche goes. Three points bagged there.

If we do finish around that mark (without getting ahead of ourselves) that heaps on pressure for the following season.
(I know that’s an obvious and stupid thing to say, not sure why I bothered saying it really)

In the past 5 years:
7 clubs have managed 30+ points.
4 of those achieved 40+ points.
3 of those achieved 50+ points.
7 clubs have survived.

53% finished between 16-28 points, brutal! Some of those breezed through the Championship and some invested heavily for their meagre returns. Conversely, a survival rate of 47% is encouraging. 35 points has arguably become the new 40.

Honestly, I think we'll pass 40 points and it will be a phenomenal achievement. I also think many won't appreciate how big the achievement was, with expectations distorted by what we did in 2000/01 and by 22 years away.

There will be no easy games, just a bit less daunting than others. I shall just enjoy the ride and see where we end up. If it's good enough to stay up, then bl00dy fantastic, if not, then I bl00dy love the Championship. Win win for me.

I'm in a state of not caring if we finish bottom or not next season. I just want to see what the owners, McKenna, the players become now we've hit the top division. The fact it's come so soon and in such amazing circumstances almost distorts things for me.

Been getting loads of grief at work about how angry I'll be when we get spanked most weeks, but having been there when Leeds smashed us without breaking a canter, having suffered so much from Hurst to McKenna I'd like to think most of us are almost bullet proof!

I'm exactly the same at the moment. Once the season kicks off I will have the same excitement as I did as a teenager, but I really don't think I will care where we end up. Just enjoy the fact we are back at the big table for as long as it lasts. (which I think will be a very, very long time)

McK will probably have to tweak his game towards a more contained (and defensive) approach than the gung-ho and even kamikaze style we have grown accustomed to in League One and the Championship. Prem teams will exploit the space behind with pace and power as we saw with both matches against Leeds last season. Unless we make a number of quality signings this summer.

Whilst I see your point, 5 of the lineup that day are no longer town players anyway and wolves had 3 reg prem starters in it, so i'll stand by my original comment and we dont wanna talk cup games, otherwise maidstone comes into it lol

Even though I know there's going to be plenty of personnel brought in over the next few weeks, I can't help feeling troubled by the fact that our current squad is significantly weaker than it was last season! No Omari, no Jeremy, no Moore etc. So yeah, the team as it stands is definitely going to be far from comfortable.

Patience and faith required.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. A important transfer window where we need to get the right players in and out to make room. A difficult start fixture wise. But I do have trust in getting the right players to the club for now and going forward we will give it a proper go.

It's the wait for those first couple of signings to get that feel of what level of player we're going for. we've seen come links where you think wow, ok great, others which are a bit more meh,

I know most would like hutchinson being the first signing, not for me, lets make him the 2nd or third, but see the first couple being genuine wow signings that make you feel ok we can hold our own.
