I wonder if he's beginning to regret not signing a new contract now. Doesn't seem to have many clubs lining up to take him and I'm guessing the two mentioned in the news story wouldn't be paying more than he would've got here.

Depending on how the summer goes, it could prove to be shrewd business by Ashton, sticking to his guns.

If we get to later on in the window, and Hladky is still available with us not having sorted out a backup 'keeper, perhaps we might go back to him and see if he still doesn't like the terms on offer?

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

Wondered about this myself.

Having said that, the rather terse announcement by the club at the time he left does make me think the parting might have been acrimonious.

Time will tell I guess.

I wonder if we wanted to move on? Yes he did do well for us but the Premier is a huge step up and for me he does not impress at crosses and set pieces he does not dominate the box .

You would think that by turning down a deal from the club, that he had something else to fall back on?

What a strange decision by him.

We know he was offered a contract by the club; what we don't know is what the terms of that contract were. Issue may have been length of contract (as he's 33) rather than the wage offered - for whatever reason, couldn't come to an agreement so we both move on.

The fact that the 2 clubs mentioned in the news story are back in Czechia might be a clue, or might mean nothing. I don't know Hladky's personal / family situation, but he may have come to a decision that he wants to move back home soon for non-footballing reasons.

Spotted the odd bitter comment directed towards him for not signing a new contract, which is crazy to me. He gave it his all for us last season and was a massive part of our being promoted - I'm sure he will be wishing the club well, and he deserves that to be reciprocated.

The only obligation Hladky was to fulfil his contract. He did that playing really well. I think people complaining about loyalty or whatever, just don't live in the real world. I would have liked him to stay, but he has his reasons for not signing and they were probably based on game time or where he wants to his family to live.

I have a theory that could be complete nonsense, but if you look at KM’s angry reactions to Coventry’s equaliser and Hull’s third goal, I wonder if that made up minds that we weren’t going to increase our offer to Hladky. Not saying those goals were entirely his fault but he could have done much better with both of them.

I should add this is likely nonsense and you could just as easily pick out his great saves against Boro and Watford to make a case for him.

The fact he turned down his best (and only?) chance of premier league football suggests there's probably circumstances that we aren't aware of.

Fair play to him wherever he ends up.

Yes and no. I think McKenna knows what is required in the Prem and even if we didn't go up I think GK was an obvious position to strengthen. He had a good season and good with his feet but he's not a top keeper. He deserved a new contract but on ordinary terms and terms reflecting he would be back-uo.

Don't blame us for that and don't blame Hladky for rejecting. He will want to play.

I think this is just right for both parties.

If I was him I'd be asking a few questions of his agent. Not heard too much positive re him from a Town angle.

Yep, a good summary. He had a fantastic season, thank you very much, but forward we must go.

As well as he did with several very good saves and the playing out he in my opinion does not command the box enough to be a Premier league keeper .

Nah, his time here is over. I really like the bloke and thought he was great for us last season, but we have moved on the same as him. It was probably the best offer he would get, but both parties have decided a parting of company. I hope he finds a decent club, I like the lad.

When he turned down the contract, I thought he would announce anew club shortly afterwards.

To be fair, he's his own man, and can't blame his agent too much.

Maybe he could go back cap in hand and sign the contract.

All is not lost..he could still be with us if he gets a two year contract and play some games..would still set him up for a further two years at a championship side and that would balance out

Absolutely. If his Agent has messed around the accountability lies 100% with Hladky. The Agent works for him, not the other way around.

I’m sure Hladky will find a club soon enough. I’ll be surprised if he returns to ITFC, but you never know. Funny old game n all that.

Nonee of us really knows, particularly re his personal circumstances, but I think we can all relate to how hard it might be to go from bench-warmer to nailed-on-starter - and then back again to benchwarmer, potentially for a whole season except maybe the occasional cup game. At his age, I imagine that's huge.

I'm regretting him not signing a new deal if we're spending £10m on an inferior keeper.
