Kloop linked with USA job. 21:28 - Jul 16 with 2144 views | Mercian | Surely he will be able to to be swayed to take the England job instead. When you have the talent that England offer and his ability it must be tempting. IMO Kloop is KM with 20 years more experience.

Yeah. The ex Prussien Munster manager, surely you have heard of him. Perhaps Klopp would be better.

His tactics are so intricate and detailed, and hes such an intense character. I'm not sure he would get his ideas instilled in the players with such little contact time.

True, but I can see Klopp affably ringing up travel companies and praising their brochures before determinedly pointing out every overstatement of the resort facilities and all the inconsistencies resulting from them. In fact I think a case could be made for Starmer bringing Klopp in as Minister for Trading Standards. [Post edited 17 Jul 2024 9:26]

I was laughing yesterday at some of the suggestions on BBC such as Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp, etc. Like those guys would want the poison chalice that is the England manager's job. Look at the way our most successful manager since Sir Alf has been turned on and vilified for getting us to finals. Who would want that? We'll get some failed club manager England old boy like Gerrard, Lampard or Rooney.

I saw a clip where Micah Richards basically said pep would be the best manager for the job. Maybe I've got this totally wrong, but he seems like someone who drills things into players over a period of time to the way he wants to play. Him having a week here or there isn't going to be his cup of tea, nor is he going to get what he wants?

Its amazing the way the narrative has gone for some. I am a Southgate advocate, and I think he's done a good job, but I think the time is right for a change. The vast majority of the criticism was constructive observation. There is a section of the fan base who vilified Southgate, but I dont believe thats the overwhelming feeling towards him.

He had water bottles thrown at him in the stadium apparently. That's just disgusting behaviour and I don't blame him for quitting. I'm 100% sure he just thought "fck this, I'm done"

Which game was this? Water bottles? Are you confusing it with the 2-3 people who threw empty cups in his direction after the Slovenia match? Yes, I don't condone that behaviour, but to conflate it to claim it reflects the general feeling towards him is plain wrong. It was widely condemned. [Post edited 17 Jul 2024 9:54]

The only time a country has won the WC or the Euros with a foreign manager was in 2004 when Greece had a German in charge so I’m all for it.

That's the idea, but I guess he's getting a load of journalists and possibly the FA annoying him with questions about the opposite of a sabbatical
Kloop linked with USA job. on 10:30 - Jul 17 with 1114 views | Chrisd | Imagine what Klopp could do with this England squad? Surely, Germany would want him too? Klopp is an elite football manager and that's exactly what we need right now to lead this group of players that England have to that next level. [Post edited 17 Jul 2024 11:20]

Absolutely decent bloke and his England record speaks for itself. However, his limitations have been shown up at times as an international manager. I do believe even if we had won Euro 2024, he'd have walked. Best time to go, go out on top....he's certainly left England in a far better place for his successor.
