As soon as ITFC were linked with SS I was convinced he was Portman Road bound. The guy is a spiky little git who knows where to be to affect a game. Must admit I'm disappointed Ashton hasn't paid the fee and got him here sooner and tried to play hard ball with Blackburn. If we have a value we think a player is worth why would we pay more than that? Blackburn gave us a figure they would accept, we put the bid in and they rejected it. If we bid more where does that stop and also, where does that put us when we put a bid in for another player and the club we put the bid in with knows that we just paid up when Blackburn messed us about? Glad you have no control over our finances. I am presuming you don't run your own business or have any input into any financial decisions. That approach is how you bankrupt a club.
It's all a game, you have to know how to play it. Especially when you're talking about a seasoned pro who was the Championship top scorer last season.

I think there are 2 prices really, what the player's valuation is and what the player's value is to the buying team. The fact he can comfortably play off that left side in the Broadhead role increases his worth significantly to us with us being so short there. I wouldn't be going anywhere near him for £20m or whatever they were saying but if we're talking 10 (maybe 2m over his valuation), then I'd get it done. We need players to improve the 11 and he does significantly imo. If he helps keep us up he's worth every penny and some. I can't really see any other available players ready to come in a contribute straight away like I think he would. We don't need someone who is a work in progress who has a higher cieling but only gets going by March / April. It will be too late at that point. | | | |

Think gallagher is different as Jan is never a good time to sell a striker as so little time to get another so not surprising blackburn weren't keen to let him go. | |

We don't know the whys. But if you don't think we've missed out on some targets you're either saying it for arguments sake or believe that we only had 7 players on the list and signed 6 of them.
Considering we start the season next week with only 1 more player in the squad than the number of squad players we lost.. I find it hard to believe we haven't missed out on anyone.
BTW. The whys could all be parent club related or even just player preference.. all normal things. My point was just defending arnie in that we've missed out on targets and your view that we don't know we have | |

I mean you could try and have that argument if McKenna was stood there at the weekend saying 'I'm really happy with the squad, we only need one or 2 more and we'll be ready to go'. He's not said that, he's said we need a lot more signings.
I'm in no way blaming one individual but we look to have struggled this window.
We really look unwilling to dip in to the European market which is a concern to me, we can get a lot more for our money there. It doesn't have to be full Forest but 2 or 3 from abroad would really help. The top of that list imo should be Tanaka after seeing him in the flesh. Cheap deal, upgrade on current players, good age. | | | |

Personally think he's playing the rightfully clever PR game with those thoughts on the weekend. I've no issue with that at all it's the right thing to do.
However only 3 weeks ago he wanted a lot more signings to make the squad competitive and in that time we've signed a left back back up. So obviously it's upto you how you wish to see it. But there's 0 chance KM has gone from wanting lots of signings to needing a couple.
