I thought Johnson and Ogbene played well, Clarke were lively but for crying out loud get past the player down the outside, cut in every single time. Other than that the rest were not worthy of being in the first XI as things stand.

O'Shea hasn't been signed to be back up. I don't know what the OP saw that makes him think he should be written off.

I'm not of the opinion that O'Shea was awful last night but I think Woolfenden keeps his place. I also wonder if against a sharp attacking side like Fulham a double defensive block with Morsy and Phillips in front of the back four will be better than exposing Cajuste to the Premier League straight away, perhaps a sixty minute sub if we have our noses in front or need an attacking change of formation. Agree with the other nine starters.

He hasn't but I said before last night's game I wouldn't be surprised if Woolfenden was given the Fulham game, with O'Shea eased in then taking his place against Brighton. I didn't think O'Shea was awful last night personally, as someone said above. Some lovely forward passes and looked sharp on the ball.

I agree that if Luongo is left out it will be Phillips not Cajuste starting. I think Luongo may well start.

I'd have said Ogbene and Cajuste start based on last night and it's up to McKenna if he thinks O'Shea deserves to take Woolfy's place.

Clarke has been here longer and had more of an impact yesterday than Ogbene but the latter allows us more fluidity in terms of formation, and would allow us to set up similar to the Liverpool game. It's a difficult one. On yesterday's performance I'd prefer Cajuste to start over Phillips.

Ogbene being a planned sub on 45 suggests he's starting Saturday, and with Burns out its the most obvious replacement on the right. You might be right on Cajuste, it could be any of those 3 next to Morsy. With O'Shea & Burgess playing the full 90 that points to me to Woolfy & Greaves being the partnership for now, it would be bold to throw in a partnership that's never played together and barely trained with each other either.

I thought Cajuste looked a cut above everyone on the pitch yesterday. Could well be him and Phillips at some point in the season. Changing too many partnerships right now could be a bad idea - the big fear is that losing becomes a habit. Not that it's insurmountable, but not a problem we want to deal with. Saturday isn't a formality either.

Yep Saturday is far from a formality, Fulham are very decent. It's a proper premier league litmus test really, home to a team that'll likely be well clear of the bottom 3 come May but wont be breaking in to the top 8.

So many words put into my mouth there. I didn't see the game but the consensus seems to be that it was too many debutants in one go and the defence looked disorganised. Unsurprising that this was the case given how recently some had joined the club and as mckenna said, it had to be done in the cup, which i don't think anyone's disagreeing with. Of course o'shea hasn't been signed to be back up. Neither has phillips. They will all vecome regular starters sooner or later. The question is, is saturday the right time to start everyone (o'shea, phillips or cajuste, ogbene, clarke)? Or do we drip feed them in? Johnson's been with us a while so maybe it's time for him to start at right-back. Szmodzics and clarke are the only real options on the left wing. Central defence and central midfield there's a good argument to go with what you know, especially since the keeper's new as is thd cebtre forward.

I thought Johnson was poor yesterday. Did nothing to suggest that he should be replacing Tuanzebe at right back as it stands.

"Clarke were lively but for crying out loud get past the player down the outside, cut in every single time" If this annoys you, you really aren't going to like Jack Clarke

To me, this game reminds me of Stoke at home last year. Facing an established side in the league who are not expected to compete at the top early in the season. Let's hope for a similar performance and result.

Then again, Johnson had some good moments against Man City (and I don't think he was poor yesterday evening but he did have trouble getting past defenders.) He puzzled me a bit when i saw him live (as opposed to followed the camera angles that the telly gives you) against OGC Nice as he didn't seem like a player who had had a full preseason with the team even though that was the case. I would prefer the Tuanzebe and Hutchinson pairing against Fulham but am satisfied that McKenna has an alternative when a different game plan is called for.

It's hard to know but i do think we will see Cajuste with Morsy. He looked pretty dynamic and energetic last night and i think that will suit what we we need, certainly as at home we try to effectively blow the other team out of the game within the first 30 minutes, where possible. Think O'Shea will start, he looked solid last night and his pace will be vital.
