If the government gave twitter an ultimatum to either clean up their act or be switched off in this country. How easy would that be to do?
Probably quite difficult to clean it up now, because Free Speech(but don't say 'cisgender) Elon laid off most of the Twitter's infrastructure, modding and maintenance people when he bought it.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

It already has as a result of the way it's been mismanaged, but you'd imagine very significantly more.
That mismanagement has been quite entertaining at times. Telling advertisers to feck off, advertisers then fecking off and Musk deciding to sue them for fecking off was my favourite bit.

That's essentially what's happened in Brazil. Can see similar happening elsewhere, EU perhaps most significantly.
The most hypocritical aspect of the Brazil saga is that he has been happy to censor Twitter when it's in support of right-wing autocratic governments in India and Turkey.

As I've said a few times, Twitter/X is what you make of it.
Only follow good people.
Only allow good people to follow you.
Always opt for 'following', never 'for you'.
Don't click onto hashtags on controversial topics unless you're prepared to blow your gaskets, waste hours, & become extremely stressed.
Apply the 'mute' and 'block' facilities liberally.
The "for you" tab is a bit of a misnomer really. It's probably more accurate to call it "for people who enjoy some of the most weird, depressing, dark, sexualised, depraved content out there" but that is admittedly a bit long to fit on the tab.
And don't anybody tell me it just shows stuff related to what i click on - it really doesn't.

It's just not as simple as that anymore, with hate etc constantly being pushed on to you. Also, I cannot morally support a platform owned by such a vicious and manipulative scumbag of a person.

The big worry I have is that if Plan A isn't working for Musk and he can't use X/Twitter to exercise mind control over the world population, he'll resort to Plan B and push the button that detonates all the Teslas.

A fine philosophy, but following it to its logical conclusion re everything in life would mean not living in the UK, not eating or using anything except home-grown, home-made stuff; not using any communications, broadcasting or publishing systems; not travelling anywhere except via walking, cycling rowing or sailing boat; not using any electricity etc.
Have my own groundwater well, so at least I wouldn't die of dehydration :)

Just like it's hard to be banned from TWTD for posting the same old repetitive guff for 20 years
Talking about bans... When are people going to start getting banned for sticking an ever-inceasingly high number after "part" when refering to issues they have with something?
We need a "This really grinds my gears part 2374560927364598324576023746508734657264507897432509872304560723465073264507345097236054703247560327465097364590734650736405763047560374560374650973645097263450976340576304756083456087346508734650873645073645073645073245076304576309745690374650937456" post so I can express my annoyance... or did I miss that version?

The fun side is that it shows the fake anti-aliasing on the little uppie/downie gifs which makes me feel nostalgic! I'm glad they're not these new-fangled transparent pngs like them others.
Doesn’t even bother to hide it anymore - but why would he when so many people are happy to subscribe to his platform, and share content to non subscribers. He can say what he wants to a huge reach (which is why he bought Twitter and delisted it in the first place).

It’s perfectly possible to block Musk and remain on Twitter (as I’ve done - surprised he allows it actually).
Not sure anyone can read this though after a certain bunny wrecked the thread by elongation!
